OP Jindal Global University (JGU) Introduces 17 New UG, PG Courses; Check Details Here


OP Jindal Global University (JGU) has announced the launch of 17 new undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.

OP Jindal Global University (JGU) has planned to start these new 17 UG and PG courses which will span across 12 schools from the academic year 2022.

In alignment with the National Education Policy 2020, the university has introduced these undergraduate and postgraduate courses with an aim to offer students choices in pursuing intellectually rigorous, interdisciplinary, and globally engaged education.

Furthermore, the university has announced that a total of 900 full-time faculty members from around 42 different countries across the world will be invited to teach these new courses. 

The courses introduced by the university aim to benefit students from the 325+ international collaborations that JGU has established across 65+ countries for pursuing student exchanges, short-term study abroad, dual degrees, and immersion programmes.

According to the IndiaTV reports, OP JGU became India's Comprehensive Liberal Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences University, with the introduction of these undergraduate and postgraduate courses. 

The University has introduced 17 new programmes in BA (Hons.) Human Rights, Gender Studies, Diplomacy and Foreign Policy, Public Policy, Sociology, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Film and New Media, English, Spanish. 

Further, B.Com. (Hons.) in Capital Markets, B.Com. (Hons.), and Global Bcom (Hons) has been introduced by the university in the commerce stream.

Further, the University has introduced the following undergraduate and postgraduate courses for the academic year 2022:

  • BA, BSc. (Hons) in Sustainable Development
  • MA
  • MSc in Applied Psychology
  • MSc. Behavioural Finance 
  • BPH (Hons.) Bachelor Of Public Health 
  • Integrated MSc. and PhD in Behavioural Finance
  • One-year global MBA in Business analytics

As per sources, the dean, office of admissions and outreach, Upasana Mahanta, spoke about the newly introduced UG and PG courses and said that these programs provide a unique framework that addresses contemporary realities, research, and interdisciplinary and experiential learning, challenges with cutting-edge teaching, led by the prominent faculty members who are amazing teachers and prolific researchers. 

Further, the new undergraduate and postgraduate courses will enable the students to be ready for the vagaries of nature, wherein the multi-disciplinary learning will enable thought leaders to reply to the emerging and upcoming challenges, she said.

Professor (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, the founding Vice-Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University, said that the university is dedicated to implementing the National Education Policy 2020. It is the university's collective and committed efforts in institution building over the last 12 years, which have taken the university to achieve new milestones.

The introduction of two new schools and 17 new UG and PG programmes marks the beginning of a new journey in the institution and nation-building. He also talked about the changes in the education domain that occurred due to the pandemic covid-19. 

He concluded by saying that the JGU students and future leaders should be prepared to face the unexpected and the unanticipated challenges.
