Osmania University Exam Postponed Due to Heavy Rains


October 17, 2020: Osmania University has postponed the UG final semester examination for various programs due to Hyderabad rains. The exams are now rescheduled to be conducted on Sunday, October 18, 2020.

Osmania University’s final semester examination for BA and B.Sc students was scheduled to be conducted on October 14. Due to heavy rainfall and flooding in Hyderabad and in most other places in Telangana, the university decided to postpone the examination for a later date.

As per Osmania University’s official statement, the time and exam centres will be the same for students. The unpreceded rains and floods have made the situation difficult for students who wish to appear for the semester examination of colleges.

Along with Osmania University, the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTUH) has also postponed its UG and PG final year and semester examination due to heavy flooding in the states. 

Osmania University tweet read, "All exams under the jurisdiction of Osmania University scheduled on 14 & 15 Oct are postponed due to torrential rains. Exams from 16 Oct will be conducted as per the timetable. Schedule of postponed exams will be informed shortly".

Water-logging has been a real issue during the past two and three days in various places of Hyderabad. 

Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said, "The Chief Minister called and enquired about the situation in the state. He ordered that the entire district administration is on high alert".

He further stated that the heavy rain is still continuing in the states and has lashed most of the districts. Many areas of Hyderabad are facing 20 cm spots of rain in the last 24 hours. Incidents have also been reported due to heavy floods in many districts.

Keeping in mind the seriousness of the situation, Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar has directed to put Hyderabad districts under alert. The directions have been given to all Collectors, Commissioners of Police, and Superintendents of police.

Several schools and colleges in the state of Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana have also been closed for the past few days. Due to the major power cuts in the state, schools and colleges are also unable to continue their online learning classes. 

Schools including Pallavi Model School, Glendale Academy, ABODE Montessori, and Chirec International School have been closed from October 14 and October 15 due to heavy rains and unfavorable weather conditions.
