Panjab University: Dental College Reopens for Faculty Members; Read Guidelines Here

Panjab University’s Dental College, Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute Of Dental Sciences and Hospital is set to reopen for faculty members from today, January 05, 2021, in a phased manner. 

Official spokesperson of Panjab University said, “The emergency cases are already being attended to and classes are being conducted online. The varsity will take a decision on reopening the dental college and its facilities soon.”

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare has asked the state governments and UT administrations to pursue reopening Dental Colleges in their states and UTs by January 4, 2021, in accordance with the guidelines and suggestions of DCI.

Earlier, a meeting to reopen Panjab University’s dental colleges with the vice-chancellor Raj Kumar was held, in which no decision was taken. As a result, another meeting is expected to be conducted soon.

Panjab University’s Dental College Reopening Guidelines Issued 

According to the protocols issued by DCI, college authorities may reopen their campuses gradually, ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of students, faculty, and staff. They should also be fully prepared to handle any situation arising due to COVID-19.

The guidelines mandate physical distancing of six feet and the use of face masks. Additionally, faculty, students, paramedical staff, and other supporting staff will be trained on methods on how to control the spread of the coronavirus.

For clinical matters, DCI has prohibited attendants’ entry in the clinical area, except those with pediatric, geriatric, and physically challenged patients with all safety measures such as mask proper sanitization. 

Moreover, all dental procedures as prescribed in the DCI Curriculum (BDS Course Regulation 2007) should be carried out in clinics by students and faculty members with appropriate protection.
