Panjab University Mulls Over Mode of Conducting Odd-Semester Exams


Panjab University is yet to take a call on finalising the mode in which odd semester exams can be conducted. Despite having several rounds of meetings, the varsity has not put out a final statement on it.

Deliberations have been made for weeks, even after that, Panjab University’s selected panel could not come up with a decision. The previous semester exams were held in online mode due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, PU has informed its affiliated colleges that odd semester exams will take place from the second week of February. The exams have been scheduled for UG programs and PG second year students, however there are no guidelines on the means by which exam will be conducted.

Colleges have also been informed that semester exams for first-year PG batches will be held from the second week of March. As Semester-I is about to end for Punjab University batch of 2020-21, students are also long awaiting for their exam schedule. 

One of the students claimed,“The students are anxious to learn about the mode of exams because if the varsity decides to conduct them offline, many will have to come to Chandigarh from different places.”

Speaking on this, Jagat Bhushan, Controller of Examinations,said, “Deliberations are going on and the varsity will take a call soon.”

Punjab University VC, has also extended the deadline for submitting applications for all sorts of tuition fee concession or financial assistance as for first-year students only that are enlisted in the handbook, till January 15, 2021.

This extension has been levied as UG and PG admission were considerably delayed owing to the pandemic.
