New Delhi: JMI team "Project Shrimati" triumphs in the 2022 Enactus World Race for Climate Impact in the United States. By "demonstrating the highest impact on lowering the unfavourable consequences on Climate," the JMI team was declared the winner.

At the 2022 Enactus World Cup, the flagship project of Enactus, JMI, "Project Shrimati," won the Enactus Global Race for Climate Action Impact. By "demonstrating the highest impact on lowering the unfavourable consequences on Climate," the JMI team was declared the winner.

According to a JMI release, Project Shrimati was chosen as the invention with the greatest impact on climate action out of 90 entries from 16 countries and about 60 notable subject matter experts, Enactus alumni, and sponsor staff.

The JMI statement further stated that Project Shrimati, in collaboration with the nonprofit organisation Each One Feed One, aims to give the women's communities of Shram Vihar in New Delhi a reliable source of income in addition to working on the principles of producing environmentally friendly, biodegradable, and reusable sanitary products. The JMI project offers girls the chance to become independent and self-sufficient while also promoting menstrual hygiene and health.

2,750 women and girls have been inspired by Project Shrimati to switch to reusable Shrimati Pads, resulting in a reduction of 14.575 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and a reduction in carbon footprint. In its most recent accomplishment, Project Shrimati also increased its influence in Southern India as a new production facility for the project is being built in Goa in partnership with Axzora Group and Ethernet Xpress, two companies that firmly supported the initiative and believed in Shrimati, according to JMI.

The Intuit-sponsored contest "The Enactus Race to Climate Action" aims to recognise and support Enactus teams and their initiatives that are tackling and perhaps resolving the climate challenge.

When the Enactus World Cup was held in Puerto Rico, USA, from October 31 to November 3, four JMI students—Gaurav Chakraborty (Dept of Economics), Manal Siddiqui (Dept of Chemistry), Maham Kamal (Dept of English), and Izeen Fatima (Dept of Psychology)—virtually represented JMI as the top five global finalists. The winner team will receive meaningful funding as part of their prize money for scaling up their unique projects.
