PU approves engineering admissions, reservation for single girl child, border area students; Check details


Panjab University (PU) has officially approved reservations for single girl children and rural and border area students in the engineering courses offered by the university for the academic year 2021-22. 

The panel members at Panjab University (PU) had recommended that the additional reserved seats should be retained for admissions into the engineering programs. Later, the panel's suggestion was approved by the PU Vice-Chancellor, Raj Kumar. 

According to the HT reports, the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) and University of Chemical Engineering and Technology (UICET) of PU had already begun the admission process. 

The panel suggested a minimum of seven days time should be given to the candidates to apply afresh for the engineering courses in these categories and students who have applied can change their categories accordingly.

As per the proceedings, the Panel remarked that the candidates were being admitted to the engineering courses against the additional seats from 2016 till 2020-21, and the PU governing body had approved such seats. As a result, the panel said that if the seats remain vacant even this year, then it may be a loss to these categories. 

Furthermore, the panel said that any deviation/ modification/ changes in such provisions couldn't be implemented without the prior permission of the syndicate/ senate. 

The panel had unanimously resolved that seat allocation approved till 2020-21 academic year, which were duly approved by the governing bodies that may be permitted for the academic year 2021-22.
