On Monday 8 June 2020 Chief Minister of Puducherry, V Narayanasamy said, virtual classes that are held for Class 10 Public Examination are not feasible for rural students.
The CM also urged Vice-Chancellor Gurmeet Singh of Pondicherry University, a Centrally funded educational institution to follow Union HRD Ministry directives for holding University Examinations.
On receiving representations from several parents, he requested Pondicherry University to conduct all its examinations in July 2020.
Meanwhile, most of the students in the rural areas of the Union Territory have no access to smartphones.
He informed the press that he will write to the Union HRD Ministry to ensure the interests of rural students and devise alternatives for them.
Talking about vegetable vendors brought back to old locations, if strict social distancing norms along wearing masks are not maintained, they will be forced to move. He would make a visit to retail shops soon for on-spot assessment.
He also referred to the case of Koyambedu Market of Chennai which became a hotspot for COVID-19 cases.
Also, regarding cases of faulty burying of victims’ bodies, the concerned health workers and municipality workers were suspended. The government will hold an extensive inquiry to understand lapse in the work.
