Pune University Signs MoU with Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering for Mountaineering Courses; Check Details Here


Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering (GGIM) have signed an MOU to offer the first of its kind mountaineering courses. 

SPPU has previously started many innovative initiatives before. This new course in collaboration with GGIM involves teaching students about mountaineering and adventure through a methodical approach.

GGIM will provide the professional expertise to conduct training, research and provide the required inputs of curriculum development for this course while SPPU will offer them in the institute for the candidates who wish to pursue a professional career in this area. 

The MOU was signed on December 17, 2020, in presence of Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr. N.S.Umarani, Director, Innovation, Incubation & Linkages – Dr. Apoorva Palkar, Vice-Chancellor – Dr. Nitin Karmalkar, Director, Sports – Dr. Deepak Mane, Umesh Zirpe, Director, GGIM, Registrar – Dr. Prafulla Pawar, Dr. Sumit Mandale and many others.

Vice-Chancellor, SPPU, Dr. Nitin Karmalkar said that this MOU will provide an opportunity for those who wish to make a professional career in this field. 

SPPU Director of Sports, Dr. Deepak Mane said, “Continuing our engagements with various professionals this initiative will help students & other stakeholders to get training for practice.”

SPPU is the first university to offer diploma and certificate courses in Mountaineering and Adventure. The courses will be announced officially soon by the university in the coming days.
