SPPU Postpones Final Year and Backlog Exams 2020; Check Revised Schedule Here

SPPU has announced that the backlog and final year exams are postponed. These exams were scheduled to commence from October 1 and October 10 respectively. The exams are now planned to commence from October 12 till the end of October.

The notice released by SPPU quoted various reasons for the postponement including strikes by non-teaching staff, simultaneous conduct of competitive exams, etc. There is no smooth coordination among the University. Also, there is no proper responsibility assigned for the examination process.

Mahesh Kakade, director of the Board of Examinations and Evaluation addressed the delay and stated that the University has already prepared a timetable for two departments (Law and Pharmacy). The officials will release the same in an organized manner in phases.

The director further added that examinations of backlog students will start from October 12, followed by the regular students. He indicated that the examinations will most probably end by late October.

Currently, the University is preparing question paper sets for around 4000 courses including law, design, engineering, etc. The University predicted that the question papers would be prepared by September 24 but got delayed due to various factors. This year, over 2.5 Lakh students are appearing for the examinations.

The major reason for the examination delay is the ongoing strike by SPPU employees. Initially the SPPU employees refused to work, and later on they also compelled other workers not to work. This led to major delays in all the works of the varsity.

While various students are worried due to the delay, some were happy about the postponement decision. A UPSC aspirant said that many students have appeared for competitive exams. The dates of these exams clashed with SPPU exams. Therefore, postponement news came out as a huge relief to them.

Due to the COVID outbreak, SPPU decided to conduct the exams in online mode for the first time. Students will be given 1 hour to attempt 50 questions in the form of MCQs.
