New Delhi: SPPU, Science park has moved to a new building of 15,000 sq ft, which was inaugurated on the occasion of Science Day, February 28, 2022. The university has also introduced new laboratories.
The science park of SPPU also known as the center of science education and communication was established in 2014. Apart from the microbiology and chemistry laboratory, SPPU has set up four separate laboratories for the students. There's also a projection room for displaying science documentaries and two large telescopes for space observation in the science park.
Prominent Professor and Coordinator of SPPU Science Park, Dilip Kanhere, said that the students displayed a total of 100 projects on the occasion of Science Day.
Some of the best projects were the roots to the leaves, self-contained talking tree, the interior of the ants' swarm, the energy generated with fun, a train built by the Joshi Railway Museum to tell the journey with a steam engine to the Metro, and the life cycle of a butterfly. Also, the winners were facilitated with notable gifts.
Expressing his contentment to be part of SPPU's initiative, Chairman of Bharat Forge Baba Kalyani said that the initiative was started to generate interest in science among students. He also shared his delight to be part of SPPU and its initiatives.
Earlier, last month, the university reopened its hostel for its students. According to the varsity’s circular, SPPU registrar Prafulla Pawar mentioned that the decision to reopen the hostels was taken considering the long pending demand from the students to reopen the hostel accommodation.
Since the SPPU and its affiliated colleges commenced the offline classes, students from rural areas struggled to find accommodation, who later urged the management to reopen the hostels.
Earlier, this week, SPPU's online platform DegreePlus, announced to offer multiple skill-based certificate courses to students of the university, in partnership with top-class institutes and leading ed-tech platforms from all over the world.
Currently, Pune University is accepting applications for admission to its UG, PG programs for the academic year 2022-23.
