Tamil Chair to be Established at BHU: Dharmendra Pradhan


New Delhi: According to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved the creation of a Tamil Chair at the Banaras Hindu University in honour of Subramania Bharathiyar. 

A New Chair at the BHU shall be established in honour of “Subramania Bharathiyar” in the faculty of Arts. Subramanian Bharathiyar was a journalist, an academic and also a social reformer. PM Modi had quoted a part of his literary work on the occasion of Independence Day in 2018.

The Minister said,” Gandhi Ji believed rural India's development would fuel the country's growth. I encourage every citizen to work for a nation's story with compassion and innovation without compromising tradition, legacy, or unity in diversity for sustainable growth. Then only, Mahatma Gandhi's goal will be realised.,” he remarked.

In his remarks, Union Minister L Murugan spoke about the contribution of southern Tamil Nadu's liberation warriors. He also outlined the programmes the Center for Women's Empowerment has implemented. Chancellor KM Annamalai detailed Gandhigram Rural Institute's accomplishments.

During the 36th Convocation of Sastra University in Thanjavur, the Education Minister made the following remarks: "The majestic temples of Tamil Nadu serve as both reminders that India was the birthplace of civilisation and wonders of the globe.”

He also added,“ Tamil Nadu is a land with a rich diversity of knowledge, and the motto "Think Merit, Think Transparency" builds on this tradition."

"From our greats like Charaka, Sushruta, Aryabhatta, Bhaskaracharya, Nagarjuna, and Thiruvalluvar, we have inherited a significant cultural inheritance. Indian knowledge systems are more important than ever today, particularly in addressing pressing global issues " He added.
