TISSNET 2021: Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai has recently announced the new rules for TISSNET Admission 2021 stating that no reservation policy will be applied during the first round of qualifying examination, which has raised many grievances from students.
As per the notification by TISS Mumbai, no reservation policy will be applied during TISSNET Stage-1, which is conducted to shortlist candidates for the second stage i.e, TISS Program Aptitude Test (TISS-PAT) and an online personal interview.
Moreover, seat reservation rules and priorities will only be applied at the final seat allotment process based on merit lists released for TISSNET 2021.
TISS’s Progressive Students Front (PSF-TISS) has raised many grievances and called this move unconstitutional to students belonging from various marginalized sections.

PSF TISS added that if TISS Mumbai makes a separate admission list from the weaker sections during TISSNET Admission 2021 last stage, there is a significant chance of weaker sections getting eliminated in the first stage itself if no reservation policy is applied.
They further added, “Our concern is that candidates will be filtered in stage one and this will leave seats in reserved categories vacant during the admission process as there won’t be any takers.”
PK Shajahan, Dean of academics at TISS Mumbai, to this matter, stated that admission reservation policy and rules will remain the same as of the previous year.

He added that there is no prejudice as the candidate’s ratio from each category will be shortlisted at TISSNET 2021 Stage-1.
Additionally, before considering the candidate's respective categories, all category candidates will be considered in the open merit list before. This will give everyone an equal chance in TISSNET Admission 2021.

On December 03, 2020, TISS released the schedule for TISSNET Admission 2021 mentioning the two-stage process.
TISSNET Entrance Exam will be conducted in the first stage of the TISSNET Admission 2021 process followed by the TISS Program Aptitude Test (TISS-PAT) along with an online personal interview in further admission stages.
TISSNET is conducted every year to shortlist candidates to TISSNET Admission Stage- 2 which is based on candidate’s marks and also a number of seats’ ratio is announced for individual programs under each category.
