UGC Approves Two Universities to Offer Online Programs for November 2021 Session: Read Here


December 09, 2021: University Grants Commission (UGC) has permitted two universities to offer online programs from the November 2021 session to all interested and eligible candidates. 

Under the direction of the Union Grants Commission, the two universities, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, Faridabad and GLA University, Mathura (Private University) are now permitted to offer online programs. 

Based on the notice release, the permitted universities, GLA University, Mathura, and Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, Faridabad can offer programs in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 

The course which will be offered to eligible students includes BA and MA in Computer Applications and Business Administration, and MA in Commerce among others. 

Those who are interested in applying for the online degree programs will be able to submit their application for the same on the university's website. The academic session for the online course will commence from November 2021 to January 2026.

The official UGC notice reads, “The last date for admission shall be as notified by the Commission for each academic session and HEIs shall upload the admission details within fifteen days thereafter".

"For the academic session, November 2021, the last date of admission is December 15, 2021". Candidates are advised to submit their applications before the given deadline to avoid any last-minute errors. 

In addition to the permission, the UGC has also released a list of eligible higher educational institutes that are permitted to offer online degree programs. The list has been released based on the number of applications released. 

Earlier, in November 2021, the Union Grants Commission had permitted three more universities to offer full-time online degree programs to interested applicants. 

With this approval, the number of universities that can offer full-fledged online degree programs under the guidance of UGC has reached 49. The decision to permit universities was made after evaluating the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country.
