UniPune to Add Photographs of Students On Marksheets to Avoid Forgery; Details Here

The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will soon add student's photographs on their mark sheets to prevent the forgery. 

The plan to add photographs of the students on their mark sheets was presented at the Senate meeting of SPPU held on September 26, 2021. 

The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has a facility for employers to verify the authenticity and genuinity of mark sheets submitted by name, batch, or any other information of the students. 

During the meeting, the Senate members said that adding students' photo into the marksheet will rule out any chance of forgery by the candidates. In 2020, SPPU started printing its own degree certificates and used the same during the 117th graduation ceremony.

Earlier, the SPPU used to outsource it and even the department of the examination printing under the SPPU's board of examination and evaluation has followed the same procedure. 

Mahesh Kakade, Director of Board of Examination and Evaluations, SPPU, indicated that there are some technical difficulties with it. However, this time, the department of examination and evaluation did a pilot run of printing the certificates with the photographs for a very small section of the management students. 

In order to print the certificates, the department requires a laser printing facility. As there are lakhs of students studying in the university, the department needs to become technologically self-reliant at first, he said. 

Furthermore, there is the design consideration. The certificates are already packed and to accommodate pictures, the department will have to reduce some of the elements in the certificates which will take some time to work on, he added. 

Speaking about the delay in receiving transcripts, Kakade said that the institute has set up a committee that is developing a system in order to give the transcripts and marksheets together at the same time.
