As per the latest updates, the Savitribai Phule Pune University, SPPU is now planning on conducting the semester-end examination for all registered candidates in offline mode from the second week of January 2022.
The final decision of Unipune (Savitribai Phule Pune University) on whether to conduct the semester-end exam in offline mode will now be taken during a review meeting of the Board of Examination.
The Board of Examination and Pune University review meeting is scheduled to be held on December 15, 2021. After the meeting, the final decision on semester-end examination mode is expected to be released officially on the university’s official website.
Referring to the Pune University Exam, the officials said, “We need to keep the prestige and quality of the university intact. Now that colleges have already reopened and are holding in-person classes, we can also have examinations offline".
Earlier, SPPU conducted the classes of all UniPune University students in offline mode on October 20, 2021. The classes were held after being closed for 20 months only for those students who are fully vaccinated.
Due to the lack of physical classes, the students of Pune University have shown their disagreement on conducting the offline examination. Students argued that since the classes are being held online, the offline commencement of examination is not suitable.

Referring to the same, the senior official of the university said, “Examinations are important and we need a fair and transparent method for all students”.
“Keeping all this in mind, offline examinations will be good. But then, it is again up to the BOE and the university officials to make the final decision” the official further added.
Earlier in November, a union of SPPU students conducted a survey on the campus on the preferable mode of examination. As per the survey record, the university noted that out of 100% of students, 93 percent of 21,000 students prefer online mode for exam commencement.
In 2020, owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the country, the Savitribai Phule Pune University, SPPU conducted the examination for all semester students through online means.
As of 2021, after reviewing the pandemic situation in the country, the university is expected to conduct the semester-end exam for students in offline mode. However, no official notification regarding this has been released yet.
