UP B.Ed 2020: Many aspirants skip entrance exams in view of COVID-19 risks, Check report


In view of COVID-19 pandemic in India, many students in Uttar Pradesh who have been diligently preparing for UP B.Ed Entrance Examination 2020 have skipped exams, this year.

However, as per the students, at a time when coronavirus cases are soaring in the state, it would be unsafe for travelling to distant places and take UP B.Ed 2020 exams. As students claim, it would be better to wait for a year than face the qualms of coronavirus transmission.

Over 4.3 lakh candidates had registered to appear for the exam at 1,089 centres across Uttar Pradesh. Following this, the authoritative body had issued strict safety guidelines to be followed at the exam venue. 

Reports claim that Lucknow University (LU) did not leave any stone unturned to make the best possible arrangements for holding exams amid the pandemic. 

Earlier, LU permitted (UP B.Ed JEE) aspirants to submit new choices on its official website to avail nearest exam centres

Candidates are of the belief that, despite the fact that government authorities have taken measures to maintain social distancing norms when thousands of students assemble in one place, it would difficult to follow all safety guidelines.

Earlier, Lucknow University announced that UP B.Ed exams to be conducted on Sunday (August 9)The UP B.Ed JEE 2020 was scheduled to be conducted in two shifts from 9 AM to 12 Noon and from 2 PM to 5 PM. 

As Divya Malhotra, a student, said, “My centre is at LU (second campus) where there will be over 1,000 candidates. Safety is more important to me than the examination. This is not a civil services examination where the number of attempts is limited.

I will appear next year. On the one hand, the government is asking people not to venture out, on the other, it is conducting examination for lakhs of candidates.”

Even before, soon after the state decided to conduct UP B.Ed 2020 on August 9, agitated students protested in Allahabad University and Lucknow University

Ravi Kumar, a UP B.Ed aspirant believes, “When people are not able to maintain distance at grocery stores, how would they do so at an examination centre where everyone will be in a hurry.”
