New Delhi: IIT Kharagpur is preparing to organise its 68th convocation on December 24, 2022, in which Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will join the event as a special guest. In addition, the event will be graced by Rajendra Prasad Singh, chair of the board of governors at IIT Kharagpur, according to the spokeswoman.
As per the officials, Professor Brij K. Dhindaw, who worked at IIT Kharagpur as a Teaching and Research Faculty in the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department (Material Science Center) from 1966 to 2009, would get the Lifetime Achievement Award from the institute during the 68th convocation.
Professor Dhindaw had a key role in the introduction of the industry-sponsored postgraduate diploma programme in steel technology at IIT Kharagpur and the master's programme in medical science and technology for students having an MBBS degree.
In addition to this, IIT Kharagpur has recently launched a free online course on Blockchain Technology through the NPTEL portal. Interested candidates who wish to enrol in this course can now submit their online applications on the official portal at onlinecourses.nptel.ac.in.
Informing about the course, the official website reads, "Against this backdrop, this subject will cover the basic design principles of Blockchain technology and its applications over different sectors".
"Additionally, the course also provides tutorials on setting up blockchain applications using one of the well-adopted permissionless blockchain platforms - Ethereum, and one permission blockchain platform - Hyperledger" it further added.
In other news, the institute completed the first round of the 2022 placement season with over 1,600 job offers and over 900 internship opportunities. The current highest offer is recorded at Rs 2.46 crore and 48 offers were made, with CTCs ranging from 50 lakh to 2.64 crores.
