IIT Hyderabad and Deakin University Launches Joint PhD Program; Apply for Admission till April 17

New Delhi: As per the latest updates, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad and Deakin University have joined hands to offer a Joint PhD Program in the area of Science and Technology. The last day to apply for admission is April 17, 2023 (till 5 PM).

As per IIT Hyderabad, interested candidates who wish to apply for admission can submit their applications on the official website at iith.ac.in. Under this program, shortlisted candidates will spend up to 12 months at Deakin University to complete the course.

During their time studying at IIT Hyderabad, candidates will get a standard PhD fellowship and when they move to Deakin University, they will earn an allowance of AUD 30,000 per year for the period of their stay. 

Applicants who enter with a BTech or BE will receive a dual degree i.e., a PhD from both institutes and an MTech from IIT Hyderabad. Additionally, Deakin will pay all tuition expenses for up to 4 years and offer a monthly allowance of AUD 150 for 3 years to students while they complete their curriculum at IIT Hyderabad.

IIT Hyderabad & Deakin University Joint PhD Program 2023 Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission to Joint PhD Program 2023 offered by IIT Hyderabad and Deakin University, candidates need to have a most recent GATE score. Applicants from IITs and NITs may not need to submit their GATE scores. 

General category candidates must have a BE or a BTech degree in the fields of Science and Engineering with a CGPA of 8.5. General category candidates with an MDes, MSc or MTech degree in Design, Science or Engineering with a CGPA of 8.5 are also eligible for admission.

The areas of research offered by the joint program are crucial technologies like AI & Machine Learning, Healthcare Technologies, materials & smart manufacturing, biotechnology and sustainable infrastructure like waste management, smart mobility etc.

Steps to Apply for Joint PhD Program Admission 2023

Step 1: Visit the official Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad at ircell.iith.ac.in.

Step 2: Scroll down and download the Joint PhD Application Form 2023 application form

Step 3: Fill up the application form, attach the documents and pay the application fee.

Step 4: Submit the application form at jdp.admission@iith.ac.in with the subject line “IITH-Deakin JDP Application Form - 2023” on or before 17th April 2023.

Step 5: Keep a copy of the application form for future reference.
