LLM at University of Aberdeen

I wanted to pursue my LLM in the UK because India and the UK have similar legal structures. The University of Aberdeen is one of the top and oldest law schools in the United Kingdom having a heritage of 25 years. It's a community of more than 130 nationalities, with 16,000 students. Aberdeen University ranks within the top 10 universities in the UK for Law.

Course Curriculum :

Aberdeen University is one of the top research based public university in UK. In Law, it has wide array of courses ranging from LLM in Intellectual Property Rights, Human Rights to Energy Law. I have selected LLM in International Commercial Law and the course modules are up to date.

Exams :

Admission requirements differ from course to course, and which country you are applying from. If I talk about LLM from India a score of between 60-80% is considered comparable to a UK 2.1, while a score of between 50-69% is considered comparable to a UK 2.2, depending on the ranking of the institution. Also, one can be exempted from IELTS if he/she has achieved 80% in English in their the Higher Secondary Examination.

Placement :

It's been only 2 months of the course so there has been no career fair yet but the University conducted many webinars with collaboration of multinational companies such as Amazon, EY , Deloitte etc on how to apply for internships, graduate schemes available for students in their company.

Internship :

No, not yet.

Events :

The Student clubs and societies at Aberdeen University Students' Association (AUSA) are highly rated in the UK, and with over 150 sports clubs and societies to choose from. Due to Covid-19 classes are being held online, but they have coop up with this situation perfectly and have made everything online for the students starting from library facilities to webinars.

Fees :

£19000 is the tuition fees.

Scholarship :

Yes, I received Aberdeen Global Scholarship of £5000. No, special application is required. £5,000 scholarship is available for eligible India-resident students. For more information on scholarships please visit the funding page of the University.

Faculty :

The faculty student ratio is approximately 11:1. Professors and staffs are extremely friendly and can be approached any time of the day for any concerns related to study, campus, jobs, assignments etc.

Hostel :

Though there are on-campus accommodation facilities available for the students I am staying in a rented private accommodation. The cost of living including food, travel, and rent is almost £600/month.
