Patanjali University, a private university sponsored by Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust and approved by UGC offers nine courses at UG, PG, diploma, certificate and doctoral level. Patanjali University offers PhD in various disciplines like Yoga Science, Philosophy, Sanskrit, and Psychology which is of 2-5 years duration consisting of theoretical papers, coursework and thesis submission at the completion of the course. Admission to such courses is based on overall performance in an aptitude test conducted by the university followed by rounds of interview.

Patanjali University Ph.D Eligibility Criteria:

The eligibility criteria is as follows:

  • A Master’s degree from a recognized institute/university with a minimum of 55% marks as aggregate
  • For admission into PhD, Yoga Science candidates must have cleared MPhil from a recognized university with at least 55% aggregate marks.

Note: 5% relaxation in marks is given to candidates belonging to SC/ ST/OBC category

Patanjali University Ph.D Selection Criteria:

The university conducts its own entrance examination basically an aptitude test followed by an interview round for selection into any such courses. Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET including JRF, UGC-CSIR, NET, SLET, GATE, and M.Phil. are not required to appear in the entrance test.List of qualified candidates in such entrance is published in the university’s official website. Admission is done strictly based on merit with allotment of seats on a first come first serve basis.

Exam Pattern & Cut-Off:

The university conducts its own aptitude test for admission into PhD courses.The aptitude test usually consists of questions based on chosen specialisation and four other subjects along with General English, General Mathematics, General Knowledge. Candidates qualifying the aptitude test would be called for a round of interview.

Final selection is based on academic performance along with performance in aptitude tests and interviews.

Below is given exam pattern of the entrance test organized by Patanjali University:

  • Type of Question: The exam consists of multiple choice questions.
  • Exam Duration: Duration of the exam duration will be one hour.
  • Total Marks: 50 Marks.
  • Marking Scheme: Each question carries 1 mark for the correct answer. There is no negative marking. Leaving or not attempting a question will also not lead to any deduction of marks.

Due to prevailing pandemic situation the selection committee of the university has decided to admit students based on merit.

Course Structure:

  • The normal duration of a Ph.D. program is 3 years which can extend upto 5 years depending on the area of research and availability of guidance. This requires full-time residency.
  • During this period, students will engage in teaching and/or faculty research for which they will receive a stipend.
  • After successful completion of coursework, competency in the area of research of a student is evaluated through a examination
  • Successful students in the exam are given the status of ‘Ph.D. Candidate’.
  • This is followed by preparation of a research proposal within a maximum period of one semester.
  • Students are required to discuss their area of research interest with the respective Faculty Doctoral Program Coordinators.
  • At completion of thesis writing, students are required to go for a presentation before the Doctoral Programme Committee which on successful review leads to award of PhD degree.
