Temple University Acceptance Rate

Temple University, the 38^th largest institution in the US, offers  a plethora of courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. An acceptance rate of 57% and Early acceptance rate of 76% make admission at Temple moderately difficult and selective. 

For seeking admission, students need to submit their GPA, SAT/ACT scores and English language scores (international applicants).The average GPA, SAT and ACT scores attained by the accepted students has been found to be 3.54, 1223 and 27, respectively.

The domestic students not meeting the SAT/ACT requirements may alternatively may opt for 'Temple Option', which comprises a total of four 150-word essay questions. The essay questions aid in determining the attitudinal and behavioural aspects of the students and select the promising students.

Over the past few years a shift in the overall trend of acceptance rate has been observed for Temple University. Since the introduction of ''Temple option' and usage of Common application, the number of 1^st-year and African, American and Latino applications have shot up considerably from 18% to 19.9% and 25.8%, respectively. 

Furthermore, an increase in the average GPA score of the students has also been witnessed, making the admission comparatively more competitive.

From this table it can be seen that the acceptance rate for undergraduate courses has dropped down considerably from 63.9% to 56.7% implying that getting into the undergraduate courses has become comparatively difficult over a span of 5 years.

However, for graduate courses the trend has been quite contrasting as the acceptance rate has increased from 46.50% to 58.14%.

Increasing Chances of Getting into Temple University

• Intake seasons: The Temple University accepts applications both in Spring and Fall season. 
• Preferable season: Notably, the Fall season has been found to be the most preferred application season by the students. 
• Preferable application route: Every year about 57% of the total applications are accepted through the regular admissions, whereas more than 76% of the total applications are accepted through Early action. Thus , it can be inferred that Temple primarily favours the applications made through Early action.
• Best time to submit the supporting documents: For strengthening the application and making it successful, it is essential that the students submit their high school transcript, standarised test scores, an application essay and a list of non-academic activities on or before March 1.

After completion of the application procedure, applicants are recommended to wait for at least 2 weeks  for receival of the decision. During the peak admission season, i.e. October–March, it may take longer than 8 weeks for the decision to arrive. The transfer students usually receive decision within 4–6 weeks of application. For rolling admissions, decision arrives by February 1.

The offer of admission can be accepted by paying a non-refundable enrollment deposit of 200 USD, which can be paid through the TU portal or by sending back the Enrollment Deposit Form along with a cheque drawn upon in a bank in the US or through a money order in favour of Temple University.

In the given table it can be observed that the highest number of students, i.e. a total of 9082 students, were accepted at the Fox School of Business and Management followed by 5,247 and 4,579 students, respectively by the College of Liberal Arts and School of Science & Technology. Thus, it can be inferred that getting into these schools won't be that difficult if the entry requirements are met adequately.
