Course Curriculum :
CMU is very intense with regards to academics. There is not one day where we will be like okay, I am free and no assignments, no work commitments, nothing. Every day it?s a hustle. I mean that in the truest sense. With regards to my program, we have a Capstone project which is coming up in January. Capstone is basically where we work with an industry leader or a company. Then, we also have this master?s essay which is basically essential research essay sorts towards the end. We have an internship too.
Exams :
I took the May GRE in 2019. My score was 310. When I applied to CMU, they sort of waved the GRE as lot of US universities did. The quantitative requirement for this program wasn?t that high. The application process included, we had to submit a portfolio of a maximum of 20 pages which included all the projects that we have done so far in life, design, business, whatever. There were 5-6 essays.
Placement :
There is a CPDC which is for all university students. They are pretty active. We schedule an appointment with them, we get our resume checked and everything. They have got a good depth of experience as well in HR and universities. We don?t really have placements in the US. Companies do come on campus but, that is like an info session. There is not a complete planned placement procedure like back in India. Companies like Google, Uber, Facebook, Amazon, etc. have recruited from CMU
Internship :
I am in my third week of my program here. There is a career fare next week. It?s called the Student and residence career fare. There we basically get the opportunity to work part time with the start up or a venture capital fund basically from CMU. That is a really cool opportunity and I might consider taking that up.

Faculty :
There are mostly Asians because I think Asians are more intensive on academics as compared to the west and CMU does require you to be really smart and really intense on academics. In undergrads, Americas, Europeans are also there. Our faculty range from various backgrounds. There are business professors, design professors and all of them are basically the best in their industries which is why they are here at CMU.
Campus Life :
CMU has a lot of resources, lots of funding. I think they are building a robotic centre now. There is a Hunt Library which is the biggest library in CMU. There are couples more. I am still in the exploring phase with regards to the libraries. They are open 24*7. They have all the resources. They have also got this crowd funding program. Like if you got an idea and you want to work on it, CMU provides crowd funding for that. With regards to entrepreneurship, they have this really amazing club called Graduate Entrepreneurship Club (GEC) and they got a lot of money. Since, CMU is a tech university. They do have a lot of fests and traditions which are in inclined with technology.
Hostel :
The university arranges the accommodation for international students. But, we need to apply early to get a good accommodation. Searching for a home here is very difficult.
