project coincided with my experience. It is always about the project. Although my university ranking and department raking is very good but is was always the project for me.

We don't have a course curriculum. It is all about research project.

work experience, publications, good academic background etc Other requirements are stated by the university and the department

depends on your knowledge and industry requirement. It's on you to find an industry. University placement cell can help and guide to an extent.

It is all good and a lot of activities are conducted all round the year. But PhD students don't get enough time to get involved a lot in these. So please don't choose this if this is a required aspect as you will be sinking in research work.
Fees :
I will never recommend anyone to start PhD on their own expenses. clear scholarship first. For stats its 40k.
Scholarship :
yes, you apply for the scholarship along with PhD application. different types of scholarships exist, So discuss with the supervisor first. Also you need a recommendation from your intended supervisor for successful PhD application.
Faculty :
vaguely it should be 1:5. professors are very helpful and knowledgeable in their fields. Also they are easily approachable and like to collaborate. But as it happens all round the globe, If there is no project or your email don't seem to fit their requirement, you may not get a reply.
Hostel :
I live in shared house. It is easy to find shared houses. Don't worry almost all PhD students live in shared accommodations/ apartments. University residence is costlier and closes for a few months although living and food are excellent.
