Firstly, my USA visa got rejected. So, my backup plan was Australia. After my visa rejection, the immediate intake of the Australia was November, the best university to come in the November intake is Deakin University. Also, I have seen the QS rankings and heard many success stories. The curriculum is great, so these are the things that drove me to accept the admission offer.
Course Curriculum :
The curriculum in Deakin is great. There is no doubt in regards to academics part, we were given enough resources to enhance our knowledge. Deakin University is mostly research centric. To gain industrial exposure, we have 3 sources in getting an internship, one is deakin talent candidate pool, it helps you in broadening your job search. Deakin freelancing hub, it provides generic internship as a part of the curriculum, but the condition is one should have a minimum of 70% to enroll into it. Finally, we can do virtual internships by the forage, which adds a lot of value to the resume.
Exams :
For joining in Deakin University you need to have a IELTS score of 6.5 overall, of which you should have 6 bands in individual sections. I have take TOEFL test, I got a score of 81 in overall. In most cases, TOEFL scores are not considered, but I was lucky. Its better to write IELTS or PTE to get admission in Deakin University.
Placement :
It depends on the individual to get a professional job. Although the opportunities are available, you should be able to make a habit of facing rejections. But, you should not stop and work with determination to get a professional job in Australia. The companies will not visit the Deakin University, but you will be provided with global opportunites in their job boards.
Events :
Campus life is good. We will have Deakin University Student Association, they will be helping in accomodation, regarding course, etc. Deakin university is one of the top most universities for sports education, all sorts of sports facilities are available. We will also have Gym named Deakin Active.
Scholarship :
I got Deakin India Merit Scholarship of 7160$/year.
Faculty :
Faculty are amazing, they helps you in every possible way they could. During COVID times, they were so active on mails, that they used to respond immediately on student queries, also, they will be answering every question in student discussion board as well.
Hostel :
You can temporarily stay in university dorms, which costs 250$ per week. Later you can opt for a room outside the university, generally starts with 125$ per week.
