Monash University Review

1. Group of 8 in Australia and top 100 university in the world 2. The course structure was the best in comparison to others

Course Curriculum :

The course is stream lined and will give one an entire picture of working with data. During the last semester you can choose to either do an industry project or a research project. I chose the industry project which is run in house and doesn't have much of industry experience. This is the only part of the degree I was not happy with.

Exams :

My Scores: TOEFL 99 Reading 23 Speaking 27 Listening 26 Writing 23; Min requirement 24 for listening, 24 for reading, 27 for writing and 23 for speaking

Placement :

The placement process is different. You have to look for a job yourself the university offers a career cell, where you can improve your skills as a job seeker.

Events :

Monash is a big university and there is something always happening. You pick and choose what you would like to be associated with, there is plenty to do,

Scholarship :

Yes, Faculty of IT Scholarship worth 12000 AUD. It came along with my acceptance into the university, I did not fill out any other forms for it. It was based on merit and was a result of my academic results in bachelors.

Faculty :

For each unit that you study, you have two sessions. One is lecture where the student to teacher ratio can be as high as 200 to 1. Then there are tutorials, where you apply what you studied in the lecture. Here the student to teacher ratio is maintained at 20 to 1. There is mix as there always is. But I was happy with most of my tutors, they were helpful and dedicated.

Hostel :

For a single room in a shared house which is furnished, expect to pay around 1000 AUD monthly. Cheaper options can be found if one is okay to share room with someone or finds an unfurnished room.
