Program emphasis is on preparing graduates to function effectively within a collaborative relationship which includes the client, community and other healthcare providers. Students learn to provide dental hygiene care in a professional manner through a variety of learning experiences.
Students participate in seminars, case presentations, and community health practicums. Clinically, students progress from manikins to the supervised provision of self-initiated comprehensive dental hygiene care for clients presenting with diverse and complicated oral health needs.
Over three years, students acquire knowledge which allows them to experience the role of the dental hygienist as researcher, advocate, educator, administrator, clinician and health promoter.

Amounts include tuition fee, program specific lab and material fees, applicable eText fees, Students` Association fees and compulsory ancillary fees.
The fees to write the National Dental Hygiene Certification Exam (NDHCE) and to obtain CDHO registration are approximately $1012.75, plus applicable taxes (subject to change).
These fees are current at the time of publication and are subject to change.
Further information may be obtained by browsing the CDHO (http://www.cdho.org/) and NDHCB (http://www.ndhcb.ca/) websites. Hardcopy books, supplies and clinical items (uniforms, clinic shoes, lab coat, exam gloves, loupes, protective eyewear and masks) cost approximately $7,500 (subject to change) for the program duration.

English Grade 12 (ENG4C or equivalent) with a grade of 65% or higher.
Mathematics Grade 11 or 12 (MBF3C or MAP4C equivalent) with a grade of 65% or higher.
Biology Grade 11 or 12 with a grade of 65% or higher.
Chemistry Grade 11 or 12 with a grade of 65% or higher.
International applicants who meet the program eligibility requirements are required to complete preparatory courses (4-months in duration): Introduction to Canadian Health Studies (ICHS). Students who successfully complete the introduction will then proceed to their original health program of choice. The ICHS requires applicants to submit an academic IELTS score.
