A program of interest to me at George Brown College

SK
7.2 /10

The main factor in choosing GBC was the program included specialization in the field I wish to work in the future. No other college provided that. Another factor was the professors are top-class. Most of them are industry professionals and teach industry techniques. Lastly, the college is in Toronto and has world-class facilities and a campus.

Course Curriculum :

The curriculum includes everything necessary to get into the industry. The course is also revised every few years with the help of industry professionals which reduces the gap between educational institutes and workplaces. Professors are polite, well-learned, and approachable. We also have an opportunity to participate in competitions held for students by Video game companies. The exposure to the industry is high. Practical knowledge is the only thing we are given here. We don't have theoretical, written exams. We are supposed to work directly on software and are supposed to submit the work files to get reviewed and marked.

Exams :

I appeared for IELTS (British Council, pen and paper) and my overall score was 7.5 bands. Once my admission was confirmed at the college, I had to appear for another English placement test. The result of this exam determines if the student has to take another English foundation subject during the semester or not.

Placement :

Students usually find jobs in the relevant field after the program is over. The students who perform well and have a good portfolio are usually absorbed directly into prestigious Video Game companies like Ubisoft Toronto.

Internship :

So far I have not been a part of an internship.

Events :

Can't say because I am attending online lectures.

Fees :

It is around 18k Canadian Dollars for one year. The program is 3 years long.

Scholarship :

No Scholarship.

Faculty :

I admire a few teachers who so far have had a huge impact on me. Because of their immense experience and knowledge of their subject, there is always something new to learn in their lectures. Christopher Turner and David Yoon are the professors who I love to learn. They have worked or are working in the industry. Hence, they know what the industry wants and that is exactly what they share with us.
