Commendable Life at York University!

5.8 /10

I picked this University because I had a friend from my hometown who was attending the university doing the same degree. He referred me to the university and told me the program and professors were good. I picked the program because of the job prospects after graduation.

Course Curriculum :

I personally feel the course curriculum needs to be updated every few years because a field like computer science has updates almost every day. The curriculum in general is useful to this day but since it's probably not frequently updated, some might say it doesn't have important things that is relevant at this time. An example would be: The curriculum teaches coding languages like Java, HTML, JavaScript and all that which is very relevant today but it doesn't teach newer languages like python which many people prefer to use.

Exams :

I studied the GCE A Level curriculum so my requirements were GCE A Level Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with a minimum grade of C

Placement :

I haven't looked into this much so I'm not familiar

Events :

The campus life is pretty good. York has a wide range of clubs and events you could participate in pretty much every day. It also has good sports facilities including the gym, swimming pool, soccer fields, basketball fields, tennis fields, football fields, etc. York is also equipped with labs that have good equipment required for your specific program that you could use during off-class hours as well. York has 2 campuses, but one is much bigger and is the main one where most of the students usually are. All the buildings and facilities are in one big area and maps are placed in many places to help navigate you around. It also has game rooms, restaurants and prayer rooms.

Scholarship :

No, I haven't gotten the scholarship.

Faculty :

My faculty is the Lassonde School of Engineering. They have a building where all students under the faculty usually hang out, eat, study, etc. The building also has club offices, student advisors, classrooms, and research, and lab facilities. The staff and students are very friendly and approachable. Everyone is usually either busy hitting their books or having a good time.

Hostel :

No I don't stay on-campus
