My journey in Canada

I did my bachelors in computer science engineering and ever since I have worked as a Business Analyst. I chose this program to further my knowledge of Analytics and Data. It is a vast field and is highly in demand. I chose to come to Canada as the country is very accepting of immigrants like myself. I love how every festival or event is celebrated here as well. The reason why I chose Durham college was that it was the only college which offered me the course I was looking for.

Course Curriculum :

I believe the curriculum was well designed. Most aspects we're covered. Students should have knowledge of certain programming languages before applying for the program. A few courses could be improvised.

Exams :

The reason why I joined this program was to further my knowledge in the field of Analytics. Since this was the first year of the program the bath size was relatively less but a good number of 30 students. To enter this program you need a required knowledge of Python and R. We had no exams for this course however our assignments were pretty tough.

Internship :

Yes, the college has a wide variation of campus jobs. I was working as an administrative assistant in the faculty department. My manager was very accommodating of the fact that I was a student and my studies came first before work. I was given time off to prepare for my assignments or projects. The application process is quite extensive and my interview for this position lasted for 45 mins.

Events :

Halloween, Diwali, Holi, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentines Day, Hug each other day, Back to school funfair.

Fees :

I was awarded a scholarship based on my IELTS score. The award structure is $500 for 6.5 scores, $1000 for 7.5 and $1500 for 8.5 and above. I had paid for my entire tuition fee for the program as it was required for my visa. For people who cannot afford to pay the fees all at once, it can be paid in instalments. I had paid $150000 at once.

Examination Structure :

We did not have exams for the course but we had assignments and individual and group projects.

Faculty :

The faculty was well chosen and each did an amazing part in making learning easier and fun for us. The professors included Debates, Kahoot and other interactive sessions to make the classes more interesting. We had professors who had industrial experience, another professor was just our age pursuing a PhD.

Hostel :

Off-campus accommodation worked best for me as it was cheaper than on-campus accommodation. I lived close by to college as it made travelling to college easier in winter. I lived with 3 other roommates and we shared and cooked our meals together.
