Eligibility: 

  • M.Sc./M.Tech. or equivalent degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks

  • GATE / CSIR-UGC-JRF / DBT-JRF (category I only) / ICMR-JRF (category A only) / CSIR-UGC-LS / Provisional letter of INSPIRE-JRF for PhD / Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship or any other recognized score is mandatory. 

  • A relaxation of 5% of marks will be allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PD categories.

Age Criteria: 

  • For Ph.D. Admissions, the candidate’s age shouldn’t exceed a maximum of 28 years. 
  • A relaxation of 3 years will be offered to OBC candidates.
  • Moreover, a 5 year relaxation is applicable for candidate belonging to SC/ ST Category.

Note: Upper age limit shall be determined as on last date of online submission of applications. Date of Birth as recorded in the Matriculation/ Secondary Examination Certificate/Aadhar Card only will be accepted by the IISER Bhopal for determining the age.

IISER Bhopal Ph.D. Programme Selection Process

  • Application and recommendation are scrutinised.
  • The selection procedure is based on the performance of the applicant in the Interview Rounds.
  • There are two sets of interviews to be cleared. Shortlisted candidates for the interview are intimidated by email.
  • Travelling allowance is paid to SC/ST candidates as per Government of India norms.
  • Shortlisted candidates of Round 1 have an opportunity to interact with the respective faculty members of the department.
  • The final selection is done after Round 2.
