Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) offers academic programs at the postgraduate level in youth development, engages in research in youth development, and coordinates training programs.

 At PG level college offers Master of Science in Counselling Psychology, Master of Arts in four specializations and Master of Social Work in Youth and Community Development). Under UG Domain, the institute offers a full-time program i.e. Bachelor of Vocation in two specializations. The RGNIYD offers interdisciplinary doctoral programs on youth studies.

RGNIYD conducts its admission through the proper application process and as per University norms;

  • Candidates seeking admission at UG level must have completed their 10+2 level education from a recognized board of education.
  • Admission for all the above Master degree programs shall be based on the qualifying marks in the undergraduate program/ entrance test/ group discussion and other methods as prescribed by the Departments.
  • Candidates who have completed Post Graduation can apply for a research program i.e. Ph.D after qualifying All India Entrance Examination (UGC - CSIR NET, UGC- NET JRF) comprising written test and interview.
  • Candidate has to fill an application form and the selected candidate has to present in the interview.
  • Admissions to UG course is based on the merit of academics and entrance test as prescribed by the Departments.

The Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur was set up in 1993 under the Societies Registration Act, XXVII of 1975, and located at Sriperumbudur, a place in Chennai city of Tamil Nadu. It is an Institution of National Importance by the Act of Parliament No. 35/2012 under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.

RGNIYD Sriperumbudur Ph.D Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates for admission to the Ph. D. program shall have a Master's degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale.
  • Candidates who have cleared the M.Phil course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7- Page 2 of 17 point scale and successfully completed the M.Phil Degree shall be eligible for Ph. D. Degree.

RGNIYD Sriperumbudur Ph.D Selection Process:

  • The selection process comprises of an Entrance Test and interview.
  • The candidates seeking admission for Full-time and Part-time will be admitted through a common entrance test for each discipline, followed by an interview.
  • Both the entrance test and the interview shall be organized by the Academic Section in the Institute premises.
  • However, UGC JRF/NET/SLET/SET is exempted from the Entrance Test and 50% seats will be filled from the candidates who will clear the written test.
  • The candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the qualifying degree examination, Entrance Test, and Interview.
  • The lists of selected candidates shall be forwarded to the Registrar by the Dean of Research (Appendix 'D') and also hosted on the RGNIYD website.
  • The candidate selected for admission should report within 30 days of receipt of the admission order, failing which the admission is liable for cancellation without further notice, provided the students seek permission from the Director through Research Supervisor.

How to Apply for Ph.D?

  • Applications for the Ph.D. program can be obtained either directly from the RGNIYD Institute office or downloaded from the website, www.rgniyd.gov.in. (For details regarding Cost of the Application form, Research Fees, etc See Appendix 'A').
  • Applications shall be submitted generally during the specified sessions of the year i.e., March and September to:

  1. P.G degree certificate or provisional certificate along with consolidated Marks Statement.

The Institute accepts applications from eligible candidates through a centralized application process which is common for all campuses. The detailed application process for the same is as follows:

  • Candidates seeking admission may visit the official website of RGNID and apply online.
  • Fill the details to register for the program of your choice. You must have a valid email ID for applying online.
  • Before submitting the application form please keep the ready scanned version of passport size photograph and signature with a size of not more 100 KB.
  • Press the button “Submit”. Once the information filled here will not be changed.
  • The confirmation for the registration will also be sent on your email entered.
  • Now, the candidate can log in and go for further process.
  • Enter all the particulars carefully.
  • Finally submit the application and take a print out of the same for future reference.

Original Documents to be submitted at the time of Admission

  1. HSC/SSLC/Matric Mark Statement
  2. U. G Degree Certificate (in the absence of provisional certificate issued by the University). Admission thus granted will be regularized only on submission of the Original Degree Certificate.
  3. Transfer Certificate (TC) and Conduct Certificate from the Institution last attended (in case such Certificate is not issued from the Institution last attended, a certificate stating the fact duly signed by the Competent Authority of that institution should be submitted).
  4. Community certificate
  5. Migration Certificate from the University/ Institution last attended
  6. Copy of Aadhaar Card
  7. Copy of the Bank Passbook
  8. Copy of Passport (in case not obtained, may apply the same upon joining)

FAQs

Ques. Is hostel available for college students inside the campus?

Ans. There is a residential hostel facility inside the campus but only for girls; all girls admitted for the regular courses have to stay in the hostel concerned, also mess facilities are available inside the hostel.

Ques. Can the course fee be paid in installments as per the semester?

Ans. The College has provided an option to pay the fee for every year during its beginning as per college fee structure.

Ques. What are the eligibility criteria for the M.Sc program?

Ans. The applicant should have studied a minimum of 2 papers in Psychology at the Undergraduate level from a recognized university.

Ques. Can I apply online for the admission process?
