What Does a Garment Technologist do?

Textile Engineer

Courses to Become a Garment Technologist

Master in Fashion Management

MFM full form Master in Fashion Management, is a postgraduate program of 2 years that focuses on imparting knowledge and skills required to develop industry leaders and top managers in the fashion industry. The course is a fusion of marketing and merchandising in a unique manner with a strong emphasis on management orientation that creates a versatile manager for the global fashion industry.

Admission Process

The following are the steps that must be followed by the candidates for the MFM admission 2023.

• Admission in MFM courses is mostly done on the basis of performance in a relevant Entrance Exam like NIFT-MFM Exam 2023.
• Candidates are required to visit the NIFT website and go to the admission section and register themselves.
• After the completion of the registration the candidates must submit the application form and pay the required fees and take out the receipt from the website. Those making payment through Demand draft must make the DD in favour of the concerned authorities. In case of NIFT MFM Entrance the DD must be in favour of “ NIFT HO”.
• The NRI candidates must take the GMAT examination in order to pursue the course from the NIFTs.
• After appearing in the entrance examination, the shortlisted candidates are called for a Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) round.
• Final MFM admission is done considering marks scored in the Entrance examination and the performance in GD & PI.

• Initially provisional admissions are done. Admissions are confirmed after the candidates are able to produce the relevant documents during the admission process.

Eligibility Criteria for the Exam

The following are the eligibility criteria for admission to the MFM course.

• Any student can pursue this course if they have completed their graduation from a recognized university or college.
• The duration of the graduation course must be at least 3 years or more.
• Candidates who have completed a minimum 3 years of undergraduate diploma from any NIFT or National Institute of design (NAD) are also eligible to apply for the course.
• Apart from the above criteria, NIFT postulates that the candidates must have good knowledge of English as because the medium of instruction is in English in NIFT.

B.Tech Textile Engineering 

BTech Textile Engineering is a four years undergraduate degree course that deals with the textile industry. The designed course helps students understand the process, production, and technology behind manufacturing and designing textiles. 

Admission Process

You must qualify for the entrance examination (JEE or state-level entrance exam) for pursuing any B.Tech degree. Many colleges in India accept admission for Textile Engineering based on merit. Your performance in intermediate and a valid score card is required for admission by the colleges.

Once the exam is qualified counseling is held followed by admission in respective subjects.

Eligibility Criteria for the Exam 

You must complete your senior secondary or equivalent with mathematics and science (Physics/Chemistry) as core subjects. 

M.Tech Textile Engineering 

M.Tech Textile Engineering is a two-year postgraduate program consisting of 4 semesters that provides candidates with extensive, advanced, and in-depth knowledge of textile engineering concepts both theoretical and practical.

Admission Process 

As every institution has a different admission criterion, directly resulting in a unique admission procedure. The candidates are generally screened through an entrance examination followed by a personal interview round. Once the interview is cracked the candidates are called for counseling and admission.

Eligibility Criteria for the Exam: 

• B.E/B.Tech or equivalent from a recognized university or college with a minimum score of 55%.

How to Apply for the Exam?

• Before appearing for an entrance exam you must complete the form fill-up process. 
• Visit the official website of the exam conducting body and register as a user. Search for the ‘Apply Now’ now option and fill in the necessary details carefully. 
• The details provided must match your official government records. In case of a mismatch, the exam conducting body may reject your application. It is advised to keep all the necessary documents and information within reach before filling the form. 
• After filling in the details, upload the documents required and revise the fields for any mistakes. You will be redirected to a payment page, make the payment, and download the slip for future references. 

• After going through the form once you submit it, once the payment is complete you will receive an email confirmation. You can also download and save the form.

How to Prepare for the Exam 

• The students must practice the concepts daily by solving previous year’s question papers and consistently giving mock tests. 
• The preparation for bachelors must start at the intermediate level as time management is pivotal to ace the entrance examinations. 
• For postgraduate courses start the preparation from Bachelor’s, focus on solving previous year’s papers, and giving daily mock tests. 
• Put special emphasis on general knowledge and current affairs for the personal interview round.
