JEMAT 2023 Exam Pattern, Marking Scheme, Syllabus, and Important Topics

JEMAT is conducted every year by the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology for admission to PG programs offered by the government and private management schools of West Bengal. JEMAT 2023 is a pen and paper-based (offline) exam which will be conducted in the July 2023 (Tentative). 

  • The entrance examination is followed by a round of group discussion and personal interview.
  • The question paper will be of 100 marks divided into three sections: Mathematics, Logical Reasoning and General English.
  • Total 100 objective type question which is completed within 2 hours.
  • 1 mark will be awarded to candidates for every right answer and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Along with the exam pattern, candidates must also know about the syllabus of JEMAT so that they can prepare accordingly.

JEMAT 2023 Exam Pattern Highlights

In order to appear for JEMAT 2023, candidates must have completed their graduation from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks. Candidates who are in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply for JEMAT 2023. JEMAT 2023 Exam Pattern

Candidates who will be appearing in JEMAT 2023 must know all the subjects and topics that they have to study for scoring well in the entrance examination. 100 multiple-choice questions will be asked in the question paper. The questions will be from Mathematics, General English and Logical Reasoning.

  • The questions will be of objective type.
  • The duration of the examination is 2 hours.
  • Candidates should practise mock tests to enhance their time management skills.
  • They must learn how to solve 100 multiple choice questions in 120 minutes.

JEMAT 2023 Marking Scheme

Candidates who will be appearing in JEMAT 2023 must know the marking pattern of the examination.

  • The total mark of the question paper is 100.
  • 1 mark will be awarded to candidates for every accurate answer.
  • They will be penalized 1/4th of their mark for every inaccurate answer. Therefore, if candidates are not 100 % sure about any answer, they should rather not attempt the question.

JEMAT 2023 Syllabus

It is mandatory for candidates to know the syllabus of JEMAT 2023 in detail. There is no specific syllabus that is designed by the conducting authority for JEMAT examination. However, there is a list of topics that candidates must study for scoring well in the examination.

Candidates need to know the topics for all the three sections: English Language, Mathematics and Logical Reasoning for qualifying in the entrance examination. The subject-wise syllabus of JEMAT 2023 is listed below:

English

There are some topics that candidates must study and practice for scoring well in the English section. They are as follows:

  • Reading comprehension passages which include both poems and passages.
  • Synonyms
  • Antonyms
  • Usage of correct grammar
  • Meaning of different words
  • Sentence structure

Candidates must practice these topics regularly to score well in English. In order to answer the questions correctly, candidates must have adequate knowledge and practice. 40 % of the total marks of JEMAT are from this section.

Mathematics

The topics that candidates must study for scoring good marks in the Mathematics section are as follows:

  • Algebra
  • Arithmetic
  • Trigonometry
  • Geometry
  • Statistics

Candidates must know all the formulas and basic concepts of Mathematics to crack this section. Taking mock tests and solving previous year question papers will help candidates to score well. 40% of the total marks of JEMAT are from this section.

Logical Reasoning

The topics that candidates must practice for scoring high marks in the logical reasoning section are as follows:

  • Coding & decoding
  • Find the odd one out
  • Data interpretation
  • Identifying weak arguments and strong arguments
  • Identifying the next number in a series
  • Identifying definitely true/probably true/definitely false/probably false kind of statement

Candidates must practice these topics to score well in this section. 20 % of the total marks of the examination are from this section. The questions of logical reasoning are quite tricky. The intelligence of candidates is tested through this section. Regular practice can help candidates score high marks in logical reasoning.

Candidates must also know how to prepare for group discussion and personal interview. In order to crack the group discussion and personal interview, candidates need to possess a good amount of knowledge on various business, economic and technological aspects. They must read a lot of magazines, newspapers and books on current affairs.

JEMAT 2023 Exam Day Instructions

JEMAT 2023 is a pen and paper-based examination. Candidates will be provided with a question booklet and OMR sheet on which they have to write their answers.

  • The invigilator of the examination will instruct candidates to open the seals of their test booklet and start writing the answers.
  • Candidates are advised to check all the pages of the booklet.
  • In case the booklet the defective, candidates must inform the invigilator immediately so that he can replace the booklet.
  • The question paper of JEMAT 2023 will contain 100 MCQs. There will be 4 choices for every question.
  • Candidates can find 4 circles on their OMR sheet for every question.
  • They need to select the right answer and shade the correct circle on their OMR sheet.
  • Candidates are not allowed to do any rough work on the OMR sheet.
  • They can leave the examination hall only after submitting the question booklet and OMR sheet to the invigilator.
