What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“To motivate students in their academic journey and provide dynamic education”

  • The teaching role of faculty members reflects their centrality in addressing the primary educational mission among colleges and universities.
  • As faculty members teach, they disseminate and impart basic or applied knowledge to students and assist students with the learning process and applying the knowledge.
  • In this construction of the teaching role, the teacher is the content expert, and students are regarded as learners or novices to the academic discipline or field of study. 
  • Faculty members are expected to follow developments in the field so their expertise and knowledge base remains current.
  • Also, conduct at least three internal tests during each semester in the subjects. 
  • Guide students all the time on their performance of practical tasks and skill exercises.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“Building strong relationships with students helps them develop academically and socially”

I am a huge fan of spending one-on-one time with students, especially those who struggle with behavioral issues. During the one-on-one time, a student has the teacher's full attention. Because they don't feel compelled to perform for other students, they'll usually speak honestly. Music has always been my go-to for connecting to my students, but understanding Also, storytelling is one of the easiest ways to connect with students. One tried-and-true way of building relationships with students is to attend their events. Students love seeing their teachers at their sporting events, speech and debate competitions, and drama productions.

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated?

“Including the latest software, technologies and teaching methods is important”

When writing a curriculum, it helps to remember that it's not about writing the best lesson plans or developing a perfect set of in-class projects and assignments. Instead, it's about meeting the needs of the students in a way that ensures the material is understood, maintained, and applied in and out of the classroom. A curriculum focused on student needs is essential at all learning levels. Most teachers will tell you that they don't plan their lessons or build a curriculum on their own. In fact, oftentimes supportive computer software, online programs, or basic planning maps are used as a guide. It's important to schedule planning sessions and blocks of time to work on the curriculum. Learning how to manage that time is also important. 

How does the curriculum of your department ensure the best practice of the industry?

“Various certificate courses for upskilling, ICT-based course content and internship projects”

Remote Internship Projects expose the students towards real-word problems and encourage them to propose novel solutions. It helps them to explore state of art open-source tools and understand the software engineering practices employed by the industry. Additionally, we encourage faculty to adopt ICT tools in classroom teaching. We also have several Certificate Programmes for the students. The basic objective of certificate programmes is to up-skill the students and faculty with the ever-growing industry demands.

What are the approaches you bring in apart from curriculum to train the students?

“A systematic feedback and continuous assessment”

Feedback is a great way for students to know quickly whether they are on the right track or need to take a different tack. That doesn't mean that all feedback has to be formal, but can be quick verbal cues to help your students know how they're doing. Also monitoring progress helps you to keep their progress front and centre.

When you try new things, you prepare yourself for your next role. You may consider taking on new and difficult tasks that you aren't comfortable with to expand your skill set. Each job you will have is important for building your career and character. Employers will appreciate and notice your effort, and you will continue to stay on good terms if you display your eagerness to work by showing up early. When you learn continuously, you can gain more skills and become flexible and adaptable in your career path.
