Dr. Dhruva’s experience in the education Industry

Education is a service that is free of cost and does well to each and every individual. For me, working for this sector is very satisfying as it gives us a way to communicate constructive, thoughtful and knowledgeable message to the current and upcoming generations. We get an opportunity to guide the students who will shape the world in a better way. Having associated with the industry for many decades now, I believe that education allows us to understand and live with challenges and produce good results.

Role of a good leader

I believe that one should never compromise in terms of quality. Given the right circumstances, an individual will give their best possible output if our ways of dealing with a situation are right. It is up to us to provide the proper facilities and how do we take the best out of them. Besides this, a good leader should also aim towards providing the students with continuous and scalable employability. It is essential to give team members with proper skills and training. This will prepare them to survive in a competitive market.

Challenges faced as the Vice Chancellor

Decentralization of responsibilities is the foremost challenge that needs to be overcome. Every individual needs to know what is expected from him/her and must do it. As an administrator, one of the challenges I mostly face is to maintain a positive behavior on the campus. But, with the help of the faculty members, it becomes quite easy to accomplish that as well.

Steve Jobs once said, “It doesn’t make sense to hire smart people and tell them what to do; we hire smart people so they can tell us what to do.” I am trying to bring that culture to Oriental University, Indore.

Explicated curriculum practices at OU Indore

Our main aim is to make the students industry-ready; therefore, our curriculum is totally industry focused. There are Board of Studies for various departments which holds regular meetings to update the syllabus. Experts from industries are invited to deliver lectures on the latest industry trends on a regular basis.

Also, our system not only aims towards providing quality education but making the students socially responsible as well. We keep on organizing various events which are focused on making the earth a better place to live in.

Mr. Ghai talks about the skills required in a student

The education industry is a dynamic industry. We have witnessed a profound change in the subsequent years i.e. the inclination is now more towards online or digitalised learning. The current youth is now well aware of their focus or goals in life.

In today’s competitive world, it is not enough for a student to be an academically bright student. Along with this, a need to be confident, well versed with written and spoken English, apart from his/ her core skill set has become the need of the hour. He should make sure that his skills match with the industry requirement. Being proactive is a quality which every industry wants.

Upcoming goals for the Institute

Currently, the reach of the institute is quite limited. In order to create a name of Oriental University, our immediate goal is to make a strategy wherein, we can spread more awareness and improve our brand name in the academic field. With this, we are aiming to provide more advanced and better facilities for our students and the faculty.

Suggestions to young generations

In the present day, the resources are available in an infinite number and a student stands all confused. In order to get out of this situation, having proper guidance is necessary. My suggestion to them is to be vocal to their professors/ teachers. They are the best guides and will never fail them in any matter.

Also, in this competitive world, they must utilise their time wisely. Never lose their focus, always stay open-minded, learn new things and step ahead & do not hesitate to showcase your talents!
