Vellore, May 9, 2019: The admission procedure for B.Tech students begun on May 9, 2019 with commencement of counseling sessions for the students. Dr. Sekar Viswanathan, Vice President, VIT, inaugurated the event by handing over admission letter to toppers. The programme was attended by eminent personalities of the institute- Dr. Sandhya Pentareddy, Executive Director, Dr. Anand A. Samuel, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. S. Narayanan, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dr. K. Manivannan, Director (UG Admissions) of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT).

On the first day of the session, the counseling was conducted for students who secured ranks from 1 to 10,000 in VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE).

The first admission order was handed over to Sajal Pundhir, a student from Uttar Pradesh. The process of counseling will go on till May 15. It would be conducted simultaneously at Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal, and Amaravati (AP). The process of issuing admission letters is based on the candidate’s merit in VITEEE was conducted simultaneously at VIT’s four campuses.

  • The students who have ranked from 10,001 to 30,000 are required to attend the counseling session for on May 10.
  • Those who secured ranks between 30,001 to 50,000, their counseling will take place on May 11.
  • The candidates with ranks from 50,001 to 70,000 need to attend the session on May 13.
  • Counseling of students with ranks from 70,001 to 90,000 take place on May 14
  • Counseling for students with ranks 90,001 to 1,10,000 would be held on May 15.

The computer-based exam was held on April 10, 2019, with centres across India and the results were published on May 15, 2019.

The examination was conducted for admissions into various B.Tech courses, including B.Tech in Mechanical, Civil, Computer Science, Bio-Technology, Bio-Medical, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication.

Apart from these, there are 18 other courses at VIT’s Vellore campus- CSE, Civil, Mechanical, EEE, ECE, Electronics with Computer Science Engineering at VIT’s Chennai Campus; CSE, CSE with Networking Technology, CSE with Data Analytics, ECE, ECE with VLSI, ECE with Embedded Systems and Mechanical at VIT-AP in Amaravati; CSE, CSE with specialization in gaming technology, CSE with specialization in cybersecurity and digital forensics, EEE, ECE, Mechanical and BioEngineering at VIT’s Bhopal campus; Admission for other 3-year Undergraduate and 5-year UG Integrated programmes is also open and students can visit VIT’s website for more information about the programmes and for registering for admission.
