Dr. D. U. Shah is the Principal of KJ Institute of Engineering and Technology (KJIT), Savli, Vadodara. He has completed B. E., Electrical, M. E., Electrical, and has a Ph.D. to his credit. With 21 years of experience teaching and one year's experience in the industry, he has the skills to be a good teacher and a great industrialist. His areas of interest are Microprocessors, Microcontrollers, Signal and image processing, FPGA, Programmable Logic Controllers, Industrial Automation, Electrical Machines and Power. He has published more than 20 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and presented 6 papers in international conferences. He is GTU endorsed principal and research supervisor. He has served as an expert in various research committees and reviewed Ph.D. thesis.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“The fresh ideas and open-mindedness of young students give us new energy” 

For any country, education is the basis for revolution and development. We can contribute our part to training young brains to become good engineers and citizens. There is always a scope for learning new technology or doing things in a more efficient manner. It leads to upskilling and learning current trends and technologies. Teaching and research are my passions which keeps me motivated and connected to the education sector.

What is your philosophy of leadership? 

“Leadership for me is listening attentively, establishing relationships, and empowering education”

Being a principal, my leadership philosophy is to have a real vision. In my opinion, it encompasses the best teaching practices and most valuable learning goals. I keep motivating teachers to get the best out of them by communicating our vision to the staff. My leadership style is to listen attentively, build relationships, encourage and empower education.

How does the curriculum of KJIET ensure the best practice of the industry?

"We emphasize practical knowledge and conceptual understanding" 

  • Over and above the GTU syllabus, we mainly focus on practical and Conceptual knowledge.
  • We make sure that every student must undergo an Internship program at the end of every semester. So that they gain enough practical and field knowledge.
  • We also arrange a career-oriented seminar for the students which keeps them motivated.
  • Our staff members also initiate and do Industry interactions every spring break to understand and solve industry problems. 

What has been your vision for the Institutions?

“To enhance the level of education and receive maximum number of accreditations”

My goal has been to work towards the improvement in overall ecosystem, placements, projects and startups. Also, to get NAAC/NBA accreditation and initiate new-age courses design and implementation.

KJ Campus is a pollution-free campus situated at Savli, Dist. Vadodara. “Global exposure in the form of international activities and exchange programs”

For international affairs, we are planning for student exchange programs. We are also planning to encourage students to participate in international conferences, seminars and competitions.

How do you tend to establish a healthy environment in your institutes?

“We always look for an opportunity to be social and participate in events, seminars, and innovative workshops”

I always visit every department and interact with staff members, know and solve their problems personally and maintain good relationships. I also keep an eye on student individual performance and guide them to evolve more. We do periodic parents meet (online/offline) to update regarding progress of their ward.
