Shri Vasant Malpani is the President at Smt Kesharbai Lahoti Mahavidyalaya (SKLM), Amravati. He has completed B.E. in Engineering and is a Member of the Rotary Club of Amravati. He has won 10 Awards in Rotary Club and has contributed immensely to the education sector.

What is your philosophy of leadership?

“Enable the best education and allow top opportunities for the learners”

My first motivation as President is to ensure the overall development of my students. My goal is to provide the best leadership and teaching to each and every student of my institute. Then provide them with the best infrastructure and all the facilities they need to develop their future. As a professor, I always urge students to be as competitive as students from other metro areas or semi-metro areas. 

What do you see as SKLM Amravati’s greatest strengths?

"A legacy of Commerce that has a long history and is very popular here”

Our College is an old academic institution that is very famous in the locality. It has a long history of Commerce and is very popular here. The students who have passed out from our institute have topped their districts as well as states. We are one of the best colleges of commerce not only in Amravati but also in Vidarbha. I teach mainly commerce and arts at my college. In Arts as well, we are doing very well and providing opportunities for students to get jobs. In sports, our college has more than 100 Indian flag holders.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth?

“The youth must possess a never give up attitude to succeed”

My suggestion is to never stop learning throughout life. Just keep a positive attitude and always remember nothing is impossible as long as you focus on your goal and then you will succeed. Today, students follow the western culture and get diverted from their intended path, so to get back on track, learn our culture and work hard. After that, nothing will be impossible.

What do you think should be the Institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Improve the number and types of internships and placements for students”

In every field in which we provide services, we are planning to expand. For placements and internships, we bring reputed companies. In the future, we will be able to benefit from contacts we are developing with many companies. Infrastructural development is currently underway. Additionally, we plan to increase the number of courses. It is our aim to place 70-80% of our students and I am confident that we will achieve this goal in the coming years.

What are some plans that you’re currently (or will be) designing for students?

“Industrial collaborations are the main point of planning for us”

Research is being improved through collaboration with many companies. By collaborating with many companies, students can learn from a wide variety of employers. These partnerships are the crux of our future planning. 

How does the curriculum of SKLM Amravati ensure the best practice of the industry?

“Industry-based pedagogy and exposure to best practical training”

We are collaborating with a number of companies to offer students many training programs, such as internships and jobs. Moreover, we provide industrial experience to the teachers to shape their experience and, at the same time, we have dedicated faculty in all streams. So, our overall experience is quite extensive.

What do you think your responsibilities to the Institute and the students are?

“Help students become the best version of themselves and excel”

As president of a college, my job is to motivate my students and staff to do their best and to encourage them to be hardworking and smart. I have the responsibility of developing my institute and making it Vidarbha's best. My belief is that every student I guide will become a future leader.
