Dr Anandhi M is a HOD of the English Department in the Sri Ramakrishna College Of Arts & Science For Women, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. She did M.A.,B.Ed.,M.Phil, and GNIIT. Later, she completed her Doctorate in a multi disciplinary dimension with the Psychoanalytical theories of Dr. Donald Winnicott and Indian perspectives of Literature from Bharathiar University. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Stella Matutina College of Education, Chennai with a 9th Rank from the University of Madras. Additionally, she has an honors Degree with ‘Grade A’ in Software Management from the National Institute of Information Technology (GNIIT). She is a qualified BEC Trainer with a BEC-Vantage Certificate, and got a commendable TKT –Teaching Knowledge Test certified by Cambridge University. She is a panel member of the Doctoral Committee at the Department of English & Foreign Languages, Bharathiar University, TANSCHE (Bharathiar University) for authoring Professional English for Physical Sciences TextBook and an associate Editor of ‘The Dawn’- A Multi Disciplinary Journal. She has published 16 papers in UGC approved, renowned Journals and presented 28 papers in National and International conferences. She has tapped Rs 2,80,000 for a Minor Research project from UGC as a grant-in-aid fund for a project on ‘Reading Habits’ Moreover, she has also completed 2 QIP Courses on Teaching-Learning strategies and serves as the Editor of The College Magazine ‘Anveshana’ and ‘Imprints’ the News-Letter of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women. We are an affiliated Institution of Bharathiar University and our BA –English Literature is made exclusively to fit the requisites of the modern Industry or Academia requisites. During the I & II Semester, our students attend The Hindu program to develop excellence in Communication. Under Technical Training, Henry Harvin Education’s Content Writing Programme is offered as a course that makes students industry ready as Content Writers. Our campus is a center of Excellence of Cambridge University, and offers training on all 3 levels of BEC Examination by Cambridge. The Department has signed an MoU with Writers Cosmos for E-Publishing and offering training on writing for Websites and blogging.

We give additional training to students apart from studies to access the grand ability of communication. In addition to the courses, we have a ‘Reading Program’ that deals with the slogan of each one, take one. Through these programs where Library books are circulated to students every week. Our students are made to read the books and present reviews on the same. This practice improves the communication skills in students and improves vocabulary.

BA English Literature itself is a very futuristic Program. We train our students on various levels of communication along with Industry requisites in the form of Content writing, E publishing and Editing programmes. All these are imbibed into one along with academia. Our department holds the unique responsibility of enhancing the professional skills of the students, and exhibit their linguistic abilities to meet the industry expectations.

Faculty of the Department are well trained to handle students and meet their requisites. All of them are Cambridge certified, and continuously update themselves. They can attain their proficiency levels by taking part in seminars, conferences and short-term courses.

How do you tend to build an industry connected with programs?

“Organize periodic meetings, and update industry requirements on syllabus”

We set an Industry Advisory Board in the Department. It consists of several Industry People as members. We also organize Periodic meetings and the members help us to stay updated with the Industry requirements.

When you came to college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?

“To imbibe essential values for students and to be a great teacher is my vision”

My vision was to be a great teacher someday. After more than a decade of teaching, I think I am a good teacher if not great! I also have my personal aspirations. My vision to start an Institution is my own and I need to imbibing values with academia. My goal is to settle in a kind of Finishing school in the near future.
