What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

The opportunity to directly impact the future of the students”

One of the main factors that keep me connected with the education sector is developing close relationships with my professional colleagues, students, and the academic community. As an educationist and a health professional, I don’t just need to teach students but also to keep upgrading and learning the current trends and recent advancements. This helps me & my students give the best possible treatment to the patients.

What is your philosophy of leadership?

Developing a positive culture that promoting the “we” mentality instead of “me””

Good leadership requires competencies such as decisiveness, motivation, and the ability to lead by example. My Leadership style is more of the participative one as I always take into consideration the point of view of my colleagues. Making them a part of the decision-making process helps in team building.

What can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute?

Excellent patient inflow from various strata of the society & excellent academic infrastructure”

SDC&H is situated in western UP in the Delhi NCR region and hence, the students get good patient exposure to enhance their clinical skills. During the study, the students are taught in-depth both theoretical and practical aspects of oro-dental care. We prepare the students to shine out once they step into the real commercial world after completion of their education.

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practice of dentistry?

“Involves state-of-the-art facilities for diagnosis & treatment of dental & oro-facial diseases”

Various initiatives have been taken up by the institution to stay in tune with the changing times and emerging technologies. The college has a 24X7 maxillofacial trauma unit, an Advanced Oro-facial Pain clinic, Tobacco Cessation Centre, an Implant clinic and maxillofacial prosthesis unit which provides a conducive atmosphere for teaching-learning and training. Some of our good practices include-

  • Regular conduction of community oral health programs and a mobile dental van for “Oral Care on Wheels”
  • ERP has been established leading to almost paperless working.
  • Regular Faculty Development Programmes.
  • Frequent organization of conferences, seminars, & symposiums for students to upgrade their knowledge.
  • Scholarship to meritorious students and awards to faculties and industrial visits etc.

How does your college practice inclusivity towards students of different backgrounds?

Socializing & interacting with those of a different race has a positive personal & academic influence on students”

Being an inclusive institute helps in improved academic development, increased cultural awareness, and a desire to promote racial acceptance. SDC&H has a secular approach. Students and staff from all over India and the globe are welcomed. We organize yearly cultural fests, alumni meets, and celebrate festivals to promote cultural harmony.

What do you think the Principal’s roles and responsibilities to the college and the students are?

“My role is to provide strategic direction to the college system”

  • My major responsibility is to maintain a balance between the commitments to clinical care, teaching, and research.
  • To standardize the curriculum, monitor student and faculty achievements, revise policies and procedures, & administer the budget.
  • To co-ordinate and foster the development of programs within the college to best meet the needs and interests of the students is also amongst my prime responsibilities.

What do you see as your institute's greatest strengths?

The values that are inculcated into the foundation of a student's academic journey”

Availability of experienced and long-serving faculty, well equipped specialized clinics, latest equipment like CBCT, LASERS, Surgical microscope, etc, heavy patient inflow and introduction of problem based teaching-learning methodology makes the college different from other dental institutions. Having own medical college on the same campus is also an asset for medical subjects teaching & training for students of dentistry as 8 out of 19 subjects taught in the whole course belong to the faculty of medicine.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

“Today’s young are tomorrow’s innovators, creators, builders, and leaders”

Youth is the most important and dynamic segment of the population in any country. My message for the youth of today is to develop a passion for learning, remain focussed, and try to acquire excellence. Respect the teachers as they are the ones who have played a pivotal role in shaping their minds. Be humble and develop strong moral values.
