The orientation is arranged so that the administration and the professors can get acquainted with the incoming batch. During the orientation program at IIT Madras, you will get to meet your fellow batch mates. You will hear about IIT Madras from the professions. You will get the detailed information regarding the campus and the activities that are organized regularly.

At the orientation in IIT Madras, you will get to know a few basic things about the college before your classes actually begin. My friends and I were also excited during our orientation. At the orientation you will get acquainted with the following:

  • The positive aspects of being at IIT Madras are explained to you by the professors themselves.
  • You will also get to know about various activities you can do on campus and information regarding the same would be provided to you.
  • As other students similar to you would also be attending, you will get to meet your fellow batchmates as well.
  • Many other students will probably also be as anxious as you, just waiting to start their IIT Madras journey. You will get to make friends with them.

Generally speaking, IIT Madras’ orientation is when the dean, director and many other professors of the college make their acquaintance with the incoming students. You will also possibly interact with students who hold PORs like secretaries.

There are various stalls also set up to help you. These are Saathi and MiTr. You can visit these stalls for more information if you would like. They will be able to help with whatever you might be looking for. You will also be provided with booklets for further information at these stalls.
