IIM Shillong was established in 2007 as the 7th Indian Institute of Management, located in the North-East region of India. The programs offered at this institute include postgraduate diplomas, executive diplomas, and doctoral programs. The admission process at IIM Shillong is similar to other IIMs, with applicants being evaluated based on their scores on exams such as the CAT, GMAT, GATE, and GRE. Candidates for doctoral programs are also shortlisted based on their performance in the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

Tier 1 MBA colleges in India are among the highest-ranked management institutes in the country, and many of their students secure positions at top companies. These colleges are highly competitive and have a strong brand value, which can be beneficial for students as they begin their careers. Although IIM Shillong is considered a tier 1 b-school, it does not rank among the top 10 in India. IIM Shillong is definitely a tier 1 B-school in India. It may not be a top 10 institute in India, but definitely in the top 15 which qualifies itself to be considered a tier 1 B-school. Its NIRF ranking is 30 in management schools for the year 2020.

The term BLACKI is very popular among CAT aspirants which signify -

IIM Bangalore
IIM Lucknow
IIM Ahmedabad
IIM Calcutta
IIM Kozhikode
IIM Indore

These are the top IIMs in India. Along with those, private and other colleges such as FMS Delhi, SP Jain School of Global Management Mumbai, XLRI Jamshedpur, JBIMS Mumbai, and ISB Hyderabad are also considered top management institutes in the country. IIM Shillong may not feature among them, but it is a top-tier B-school.
