Remarks :
The eligibility is quite simple you must have passed your 12th grade with at least 45 percent aggregate from any stream of arts, science, or commerce. The required examination that one needs to appear in CLAT and its application form is updated on the website of the CLAT consortium, the application form fee is around 4000 and from this year the application form dates have changed that you can check on the CLAT consortium website. I got admitted to MNLU Mumbai through Maharashtra domicile, which made it easy for me to enter the university, the cutoff for the reserved seats is quite low, one can easily pull that off without even studying. Close to 65 percent of the seats are reserved category seats, which means they are domiciled seats. One improvement which the consortium should deeply focus on would be the application form fees which are pretty much compared to other national-level exams, and another thing that they have started this year itself is that no one has to give early preferences.
Course Curriculum Overview :
So basically the reason why I chose this law stream is that I found this study to be pretty relevant for the Civil services exams or the other government exams so to say. As of now I am in the 1st semester itself so we have 6 subjects in all for this semester, and only 1 out of all is a law subject, the other subjects are BA subjects which aren't very interesting, talking about the Faculty, some of the faculty members are very amazing like the Torts faculty is very good, economics faculty is also very good, moreover they are the ones who have perfect I depth knowledge about their subjects and that is seen when they teach you. some faculty members are not up to the mark as they lack a deep understanding of the subject that they are teaching, even some of the student's doubts blow their minds. For the 1st year, we have in total 8 faculty members for all the subjects for in total of 120 students which is quite decent. you can expect exams every 1.5 months which are midterms, and easy to pass.
Internships Opportunities :
The internship opportunities here are amazing, as you live in Mumbai for you here sky is the limit, there is the Bombay high court here, and a lot of law firms are also there. The internship cell works pretty hard to make sure every student gets interned. the college provides 1.5 months of internship break per semester. As of now as I am a 1st year student i am doing a judicial internship in Pune district court, for which I very easily got a recommendation letter from the internship cell of the university.
Placement Experience :
The placements are quite good there are 6 to 7 students who have got PPOs in their 4th year itself. All the famous law firms come to our college, the advantage we have over the other colleges is our location, as our college is based in a prime area of Mumbai, so all the famous law firms' offices are quite nearby. Maybe around 80 percent of students get placed by the end of 5th year, and our placement cell is also very efficient and works very hard for the students.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees of our college compared to other plus is quite high, for the general category students one has to pay around 3.5 to 3.6 lakhs per year inclusive of hostel and mess and for the domicile students, one has to pay around 3.2 to 3.3 lakhs per year. There are no prominent scholarships by the university itself, the domicile students can apply for the Maharashtra government scholarships.
Campus Life :
So we have 3 to 4 fests or cultural programs every year, In our 1st year had our freshers just after a month we joined in, and after that we had our annual sports meet, which we call ZEST it goes around for 5 days and we have a good gathering on the last day things like concert and all is there. Our main fest is called Abhikrama which is in February. The amenities of the hostel are amazing, the library is good, and there are all the clubs and societies that a law school should have.
Hostel Facilities :
The best thing about mnlu is our hostel though it's a rented building but is no less than a 3-star hotel room, all rooms have attached toilets and bathrooms with all good amenities, we even have room cleaning staff so we don't have to do it ourselves. the mess food is decent like you'll get in every college s mess, but not extraordinary like GNLU.
