Remarks :
The entrance forms are available on the NIFT website and the process starts around October. You have to go through two rounds before getting the final rank. The first round is the creative and general ability test that has questions related to drawing, math, English, logical reasoning, and general awareness. The second round consists of GD and PI. Anyone with a bachelor's degree can apply for the master's course. The admission process is smooth but a little time management would be preferred.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I always wanted to pursue something creative and it felt like the right choice considering all my other options at that time. But I would recommend everyone to do their research properly before going for any course. The faculty is knowledgeable and well-qualified. For 36 students we have 4 faculty and the rest are visiting faculty. The term exams are fairly easy to pass and happen on a timely basis.
Internships Opportunities :
Usually, we need to apply for internships on our own. It can vary from hardcore design studios to advertising or fashion agencies. The usual stipend is 10,000-15,000 for master's students. For undergraduates, it could vary from 5,000 to 10,000.
Placement Experience :
Students in PG become eligible in the third sem. Major companies are Aravind mills, satva consulting, Myntra, target, Aditya Birla, etc. The average package is 4 lac and the highest is 10-12 lacs. Students can get into visual design, brand management, graphic design, UI UX design, trend forecaster, etc. I plan on getting a job and working as a UI UX designer.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The cost is pretty high. Considering all the living and other expenses. The two-year course might cost from anywhere between 9-12 lacs. There is financial assistance and scholarship available for a certain category of people.
Campus Life :
The annual fest is Spectrum. We have access to most of the design books and online journals on platforms like j stor. The classrooms have central air conditioning and projectors. We have a basketball and badminton court. There's no ground for football or cricket though. The college has various clubs like music, drama, fashion, sports, and culture.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel facility is fairly decent. We have access to water, a common room with an iron and refrigerator, microwaves, and induction. 2 Washing machines are also available. The rooms are on a twin shared basis without any AC or cooler. The hostel is pretty convenient and affordable. The meals provided in the mess are decent. Veg, nonveg, and Jain options are available. The registration process is tedious and on a first come first serve basis.
Interview Experience :
The topic received for gd was synthetic vs real fabrics, interview revolved around my work experience, and was even asked to draw. I didn't take any coaching for these. I just went and portrayed my authentic self.
