The placement record of IIT Goa is impressive, and the mechanical engineering course is no exception. The students have been placed in various reputed companies such as Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, L&T, and many more. Research and ProjectThe mechanical engineering course at IIT Goa lays a strong emphasis on research and projects. The students are encouraged to take up research projects in their area of interest under the guidance of the faculty. The institute also provides funding and other resources to support the research projects.
Course Curriculum Overview :
First of all, I wanted to get admission to IIT and secondly, I am of my interest branch. The faculty members are Ph.D. and master qualified. The faculty: student ratio at IIT Goa is generally good, with around 1:15 to 1:20. This means that for every faculty member, there are around 15 to 20 students, which allows for individual attention to be given to each student. The term exams at IIT Goa are conducted on time, as per the academic calendar. The exams are generally challenging, and students need to prepare well to pass them. However, the difficulty level is commensurate with the standards of an IIT, and students who have studied diligently are generally able to perform well in the exams. The institute has a rigorous academic program, and students are expected to put in significant effort and time to succeed. However, the faculty members are supportive and provide guidance to students who are struggling with the coursework.
Internships Opportunities :
IIT Goa offers internship opportunities to students, which allow them to gain practical experience in their field of study, develop their skills, and explore potential career paths. Some of the well-known companies that offer internships to college students include TCS, Infosys, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Deloitte, etc. The roles offered under internships may vary depending on the company, location, and industry. For instance, students pursuing a degree in computer science or information technology may get internships as software developers, data analysts, cybersecurity analysts, etc. Similarly, students pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering may get internships as design engineers, manufacturing engineers, quality assurance engineers, etc. Internships usually come with a stipend, which may vary depending on the company, location, and duration of the internship. The stipend may range from a few thousand to tens of thousands of rupees per month.
Placement Experience :
IIT Goa offers campus placements to its students. Students become eligible for campus placements in their final year of study, i.e., in the 7th or 8th semester. Several reputed companies visit IIT Goa for campus placements, including Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, IBM, Tata Steel, Larsen & Toubro, Adani Power, etc. Higher placements offer is of 1.2cr and average placement offers are16-25 lac per annum. The percentage of students getting placed during campus placements at IIT Goa is quite high, with around 90% of students getting placed every year. The remaining students generally opt for higher studies or pursue entrepreneurship. In case no campus placement is offered, students can explore other options for employability, such as applying for jobs through job portals, professional networking sites, or by directly contacting companies. They can also consider pursuing higher education or research in their field of interest or starting their own business.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees structure at IIT Goa for the mechanical engineering course is similar to that of other IITs in India. The total fees for a four-year undergraduate course at IIT Goa is around INR 10 lakh. This includes tuition fees, hostel fees, and other charges.
