Remarks :
The admission process was based on NEET 2021 examination. You have to score very legit marks and a good rank to come into the merit list for the colleges in the counselling procedure. Bihar counselling was conducted by the BCECE board for admissions in different courses like MBBS, BDS, Ayurveda, Vet, etc. in different colleges all over Bihar. The application form for NEET was available on the respective site on the internet. During my counselling process, as much as I remember, the cut-off, category-wise for NMCH, Patna (my college) was GEN 626, OBC 611, SC 524, ST 575, up to 2nd round of counselling. The counselling process was conducted in 2 main rounds then a Mop up and at last Stray Vacancy round.
Course Curriculum Overview :
At first, from class 10, I was determined to become a Doctor. And for this, I chose this MBBS degree course which is of 5 and half years duration. Now, NMCH, Patna truly speaking is not among the well-known colleges in Bihar or other States, as PMCH and IGIMS. Having situated in a new city area and having its Hospital 3km away from the College campus makes it a little less famous than others. But now, after spending a year in it, I get to know and accomplish this through so many highly qualified Professors and HOD. In 1st year I had to study 3 subjects Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry. The professors taught these subjects to us very nicely. Especially those in Anatomy were very good. A major drawback was that we were provided with only one cadaver in the Dissection Hall, but now after our batch 3-4, cadavers are being provided. So overall NMCH holds helpful and strong faculty services.
Internships Opportunities :
Not like that of Engineering or MBA courses where companies come and provide job placement, in MBBS first one has to complete the study duration of 4 and a half years and then have to do an internship in other colleges and rural services around the city outskirts. This year there was a stipend hike for the internship service from 15 to 20k per month for 12 months duration. You have to pass and complete the proof exams up to the fourth year and then you will be provided with an internship from the college itself.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
All over India, there are comparatively very nominal fees for government medical colleges. In Bihar, for NMCH Patna it is around 12-13k per year (highly affordable). Now every year for the book purchase one has to spend around 6k. Now, Girls get their hostel as soon as they enter the college in UG or PG hostels. But Boys have to spend almost a year outside the college campus for the final year seniors and interns to shift and leave the hostel rooms for freshers. Coming to the scholarships, there are a few, provided by the state and national government every year and some organizations are also there, which give scholarships in return for child education care after your MBBS course completion. During the internship from this academic year, there is a stipend hike from 15 to 20k per month, after the completion of 4th year.
Campus Life :
In general, every state government medical College usually has a short campus as compared to those in engineering and other courses. The campus life in our college is I think good, but we get every facility of restaurants and shopping and the market area just outside our college campus. So that makes our campus into the city area. During the CFD time, the main annual fest is conducted namely "Especto". Apart from this during many outer festivals or Puja like Saraswati Puja, Durga Puja, and 31st night other fests are also conducted, and dinner and DJ nights are also placed. We got a campus library which holds a nice collection of books to read and gives us a good environment to study. We have a normal classroom having staircase benches, a whiteboard, and a presentation screen. The college also organizes sports competition like Cricket, football, and chess( almost every sport played in India) and have 2 big grounds for these. There are clubs for every event like Diopter for photography etc.
Hostel Facilities :
As I have already mentioned, Girls get hostels as soon as they enter the college, but Boys have to live outside in private hostels or flat rooms during 1st year and have to wait till the final year seniors and interns shift their rooms. NMCH Hostel's mess food is good, compared to other colleges as I get to know. Hostel rooms are allotted as the rooms are vacant. I was living in a private hostel namely " Shankar hostel" outside the campus for the last year, which I think for living was good but it provides a very average food facility.
