Remarks :
To be eligible for admission to IIT, you need to pass JEE mains and obtain a rank in JEE advanced, which will determine your branch. You also need to score 75% and above on the 12th board. Applications for JEE mains are released by NTA, while IIT releases the forms for JEE advanced. Different types of reservations are available, including those based on caste (such as OBC, SC, ST), EWS, PWD, and a quota for girls.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose electronics and electrical communication as I was interested in the field. Also, this is a quite famous and reputed field in terms of packages and areas of interest. Student to faculty ratio is 8:1 and they are actually highly qualified. Exams are hard and take place two times in a semester mainly endsem and midsem exams.
Internships Opportunities :
Internship opportunities are quite good on campus. Many MNCs and startups visit the campus. Some companies (HFTs) offer more than 3 lakhs per month as a stipend during internships. Companies like GOOGLE, Microsoft, Uber, and Flipkart visit frequently.
Placement Experience :
Internships start in the 5th semester and placements start in the 7th semester. Many MNCs and startups visit for internships and placements. The average package remains around 16lakhs per annum and the highest package goes over 2Cr.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Tuition fees are quite high. It is 1 lakh per semester and the overall budget goes to 1.45 lakhs per semester. Students are given scholarships based on family income and merit status. Also, you are given many loan facilities as an IIT student.
Campus Life :
The cultural fest is SPRING FEST and the technical fest is KSHITJ. Both are awesome. We have an amazingly big library where you can find almost any book in physical or digital form (yes, IIT KGP has a digital library). Sports facilities are many and awesome.
