Bhajan Lal Scholarship

The Bhajan Global Impact Foundation provides the Bhajan Lal Scholarship to students looking for higher studies in programs related to the environment. The scholarship is awarded to candidates seeing admissions in MSc, MPhil or Ph.D. or equivalent program.

The Bhajan Lal Scholarship is awarded based on the needs and merit of the candidate. The ones who are selected for the scholarship are called Bhajan Lal Scholars.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicants who wish to apply for Bhajan Lal Scholarship must fulfill the following criteria:

  • must have a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline to environment.
  • must have an offer letter from a recognized university abroad or India
  • should be enrolling in MSc, MPhil, or Ph.D. program at a foreign university

  • Hydrology, Water Resource Management, Sedimentation of Rivers, Water Waste, Ground Water, etc.
  • Geology and Soils such as Soil Quality, Weathering, etc.
  • Renewable Energy, Solar Energy, Biogas, etc. Wildlife such as Wildlife Conservation, Wildlife Management, Wildlife Observation, etc.Waste such as Solid Waste Management, Liquid Waste Management, Integrated Waste Management, etc.

Applicants looking forward to studying abroad and enroll in one of the above-mentioned fields of study or equivalent are eligible for the Bhajan Lal Scholarship.


Application Process

Applicants of Bhajan Lal Scholarships are required to complete a scholarship form. Applicants can apply either online or send the application form through the mail to scholarships@bhajanfoundation.org.

How to Apply:

  • Visit the BGIF website to complete the scholarship form online.
  • Fill in the details asked in the form such as-
    • Personal details
    • Academic qualification (last three qualifications)
    • Any previous scholarship or funding awarded
    • Test scores of GRE, TOEFL or IELTS
    • Work Experience or Projects Pursued
    • Proposed program
  • Fill some essay questions such as:
    • In your opinion, what is the biggest environmental challenge that India faces today? You can choose to focus on a specific incident/ situation or keep it general to an overarching challenge (Max 1000 words)
    • How do you think your course can help you address some of the environmental challenges that India is facing? (Max 500 words)
    • What are the belief systems or values that define you as an individual? How do you think these values will help you in your path to creating environmental impact? (Max 500 words)
  • Other additional details such as-
    • Involvement in Social Causes and Community Activities
    • Include reasons for poor grades, financial background, other mitigating factors, if relevant. (Max 500 words)
  • Details of two references (1 professional and 1 academic recommended)
  • Upload updated resume

In case an applicant is submitting the scholarship application through email, they are required to attach the Essay questions as a separate document within the same email.

  • Financial need
  • Academic merit

Bhajan Lal Scholarships are awarded for a duration of 12-24 months and are reviewed every 6 months or end of each semester.


Grant Details

The Bhajan Global Impact Foundation provides financial help to students enrolling in MSc, MPhil or Ph.D. in environment related disciplines through the Bhajan Lal Scholarship.
