HPU MA Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria required for admission in MA courses is as follows-

Course Specializations Eligibility
MA English, and Rural Development Bachelor’s degree from a relevant field of study with a minimum of 45% marks.
Social Work, Physical Education, Business Economics, Journalism and Mass Communication, Economics, Hindi, History, Performing Arts, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Sanskrit, Yoga, Translation, and Public Administration Bachelor’s degree from a relevant field of study with a minimum of 50% marks.

HPU Admission Guidelines

Candidates are required to appear for the Entrance Test. Admission will be given based on marks obtained in the entrance exam.

Steps to apply for the test are mentioned below:

  • Click on “PG/UG/Ph.D./Certificate Diploma” to access the list of programs. 
  • Choose the program and click on the program name.
  • Fill the online application form
  • After filling in personal information, click on the Save button
  • The system will generate a Unique Registration number and a password. Candidates must note the same.
  • Make the application fee payment and click on ‘Submit Application Form’

All M.A courses at HPU are for a duration of four semesters. For most courses, the total marks for each paper will be 100 marks out of which 20 marks in each paper shall constitute the internal assessment component. The remaining 80 marks of the paper shall consist of a written examination at the end of the semester.

HPU MA Placements

At HPU each department is responsible for arranging its own placement opportunities for its students. Given below is information on a few of HPU’s departments.

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication: The Department organizes both Internship and placement drives.

For Internships, students have the opportunity to undergo a six-week of training in fields such as Television, Newspaper, Radio, etc.

The Department regularly organizes placements for its final year students. Most students are placed in fields such as print and television journalism. Other fields include advertising, public relations, and development communication.

Companies that visit the department regularly for placements interviews are:

  • National- The Indian Express, Radio Mirchi, Hindustan Times, Dainik Jagaran, Zee Media, The Tribune, Amar Ujala, and India TV
  • Regional- Himachal Watcher, The Chunk Media, Snow Leopard Productions, Channel 9, and Divya Himachal

Department of Economics: Regular placements are organized for students of Masters in Business Economics (MBE).
