Dr. Harisingh Gour University (DHSGU), spread across 1300 acres with its own infrastructure and best services for its teachers and students, has proved wonders with a number of alumni excelling in their fields, being Vice-Chancellors of different Indian Universities and also D.G.GSI, Government of India.

The University grants reservation to the reserved category candidates, with 3% reservation for PH candidates, course wise. DHSGU also exempts certain candidates from the entrance examination and directly appear for the interview.

DHSGU Ph.D Eligibility

  • Candidates must secure a Post graduate degree in their preferred courses in which they have to apply for Ph.D. programme for eligibility.
  • Candidates under General and OBC category must have a minimum aggregate of 55% in their respective qualifying examinations in their Master’s degree, while candidates under SC/ST category must secure a minimum of 50% in their Master’s degree examinations from any recognized University/Institute.
  • Candidates who are appearing for their last semester examinations for Master’s degree can also apply, provided the result of their qualifying examinations directly affects the approval of their admission.

DHSGU Ph.D Admission Process

The selection of candidates for interview and further admission programme will be purely based on merit basis, qualifying candidates fulfilling the following conditions will be called for interview:-

  • Candidates under unreserved category/OBC or Physically Handicapped category have to score a minimum of 50% aggregate (100 marks) for interview.
  • For SC/ST candidates, a minimum of 45% aggregate (90 marks) is required for qualification.

For Interview, the committee will consider the marks obtained in the Master’s degree as well as the questions asked/presentation skills in the interview orally. Appearance is a must for qualifying candidates.

Written Test & Interview Details:-

The admission of all candidates under all categories will be conducted through a written test, followed by an interview. Candidates who are exempted from the written test are eligible to qualify for the interview, and furthermore for the admission.

  • The entrance exam will be of 200 marks, comprising of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • Duration of Entrance Test: 120 minutes.
  • The question paper will have 2 parts: Part A will be General Aptitude Test % will consist of 20 objective type questions (MCQs) of 40 marks.

Part B will be Subject Specific, consisting of 80 objective type questions (MCQs) .

  • For the interview, only the candidates who are exempted from the entrance exam and the candidates who have qualified are eligible.
  • The interview will be of 20 marks.
  • Candidates who are exempted from the entrance test include:
    • (NET-JRF) UGC/CSIR examination qualifying candidates.
    • Candidates who are awarded National Fellowship by the Govt. of India/State Govt. organizations.
    • Teacher Fellowship Holders are exempted from interview.
    • Candidates who are selected under Quality Improvement Program (QIP) of AICTE, Faculty Development Programme (FDP) of UGC.
    • Candidates, who are admitted as self-financing foreign national by an Embassy of their countries, provided they have approval from Ministry of External Affairs and an issued NOC.
    • Candidate who is sponsored as a part-time candidate by a non-degree awarding institution.

Exempted candidates must also apply for admissions for the Ph.D. programme and appear for the interview.

How To Apply?

Step 1

All candidates have to visit the University website, and choose the Services option for Application for PhD Admission/Entrance Test. A new window with will open showing the online application form.

Step 2

  • All the details regarding preferable course along with other personal details shall be filled up by the candidate. The information must be complete and valid. Contact details must be carefully filled so as to receive the confirmation SMS/email.
  • Fill in the required category of reserved/unreserved for claiming of quota.

Step 3

  • Candidates have to attach their scanned photographs (maximum size 250kb) &their scanned signature (maximum size 100kb)
  • Before clicking the submit button after the picture upload, candidates must check all the details they have mentioned in the particulars.

Step 4

  • After successful completion of application form, candidates may proceed with the payment options for registration.
  • In order to make the payment, candidates may select their payment gateway through MP Online authorized KIOSK / Net Banking / ATM cum Debit Card /Credit Cards.
  • Entrance test fee is Rs.900/- for General, OBC & PC Candidate & Rs.450/-for SC/ST Candidates. 
  • Once the payment is done, candidates may take a print copy of their payment receipt.

Step 5

  • Candidates must print 2 copies of the application form, one of which have to be sent to the Chairman, Admission Cell, Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar – (M.P.) 470003 and the other one has to be produced at the final counselling.

DHSGU Ph.D Reservation

  • As per the guidelines from the Govt. of India, seats will be reserved for SC, ST, OBC candidates with a percentage seat grant of 7.5% for SC, 15% for ST and 27% for OBC.
  • Special seat reservation will be conducted for Physically Handicapped candidates with a grant of 3% seats within each category.
  • As per the MHRD guidelines, special reservation for Kashmiri migrants will be offered, with a relaxation of 10% of Percentage Subject for Minimum eligibility or 5% increase in intake capacity of seats for all courses.
